So we started off the show talking about the first ever appearance in the NBA finals for the Denver Nuggets. They're on their way to the finals after a sweep of Los Angeles Lakers, Nicole Yocchich, the talk of the town. He won Western Conference Finals MVP. He was fantastic. Another triple double. All of that fun stuff. And as Brady Quinn alluded to earlier in the show, you know part of the conversation, if not majority, the conversation is going to be about the Los Angeles Lakers right or wrong. And the person leading the charge in the conversation about the Lakers is one LeBron James because afterwards he spoke with the media just about his immediate future when it comes to LA, take a listen. What's the what happens about Ford? I don't know. I don't know. I got a lot to think about to be honest. I got a lot to think about to be honest and just for me personally going forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about. Now afterwards he was approached by ESPN who walked up to him and said, when you say you've got to think about stuff, what thread should we be pulling on that? And he said, quote, if I want to continue to play, they said, as in next year, he said, yeah. And when asked, would you walk away? LeBron James again said, quote, I got a lot to think about. So mainly a sudden. Yeah. And how much longer can he hold on for that? Because I really think he wants to do that. Yes. Can I throw out a theory to you? Yeah. What would stop him from retiring, taking a year off, and then getting himself ran back up for when Bronnie comes back. And this accomplishes two things. The first being that he gives his body some well-needed rest, right? I mean, he's played for a long time. I don't know that we've seen someone play as often in the postseason as we've seen LeBron James at this point in time in his career. And so it gives him the needed rest where maybe a year older is a year older, but he's going to keep himself in impeccable shape. He is one of the most rare athletes or humans I've ever seen. So it could do him well maybe at this point. And then the other thing is it obviously times up well with little Bronnie, but it also gives him the flexibility where even though I believe he's still in her contract with the Lakers, at that point, a year removed, maybe the Lakers got a sense that he wants to move on anyway. They can look at trying to replace and rebuild in that void. And then he can go to a team where Bronnie's at. So they can play on the same team. And he doesn't have to try to facilitate necessarily a trade or if he does. It's a little easier to do that if he's been out of sight out of mind for a year. So I'm not saying this is by any means what he's going to do. But it's a path that he could take if indeed that is his goal of playing with Bronnie. I mean, that's a new layer to load management. That is a different layer. Take a whole season off. Do you think because it does make some sense from a timeline standpoint, but do you think that LeBron would ultimately not want to take that approach just because that would be one of the clear differences between him and Jordan? Jordan took time off and came back. If LeBron could say, well, I never walked away. I played consistently at a high level for X amount of years. I wonder if part of his thinking is how can I? What does that matter now though? But Jordan took time off like what? He's going to get it. Years ago into his career where LeBron would have been? Yeah, I just think LeBron's looking for a way to differentiate himself from Jordan. He can't catch him on titles. And this is a way that he can differentiate himself from him. I mean, I think his scoring title, scoring record is what. And there's other stat lines that could be used to make an argument for LeBron James. I think at this point now, he's definitely, if you were to ask him what he's playing for, it's definitely to try to outdo Michael Jordan's titles. It's got to be, right? It's got to be. I think we talked about this yesterday. He let that go when he left Miami. Yeah, there's no chance. Yeah, he left Miami. He let that goal go. You're saying he consciously knew once he left Miami, he was not going to get. I mean, he did get another title. No, he got two more if you count the bubble one, but you have to understand the point. Miami as an organization has continually been successful since he left. True. They never stepped off the gas. The East has been an easier path than the West. And when he decided to leave Miami and what he had where he went to what? Four straight NBA finals winning two of those four. He left the opportunity to have them be able to continue to build out around them, much like Rob Palenka did this year with the Lakers. But he left that opportunity to allow Pat rather to do it because he wanted to have control. He wanted to do what he wanted to do in Cleveland and then LA and they really take a different approach. I just think the priority had changed as soon as they weren't able to just win a bunch right in a row, but he was able to win a couple. He then saw the path. He saw how things worked. He took it back to Cleveland was able to win one there, goes to LA, which I think that had family implications, post career implications, a lot more to it than just playing for the Lakers. And now it's about his son. And so if that's the case, I don't think it's ring chasing at this point. I think he just wants to be where his son's at and help his son segue into being a professional basketball player. And he can do that. I mean, and you guys don't think he can do that from being retired? He could. But I think he wants to play with them. I mean, that was what you just said, right? Yeah. I mean, that's what everybody has said that he wants to play with his kid. I mean, so I just for me, if I'm not playing to try to win it, I don't know why I'm doing it. Like even if it's my kid, like he's, he's in the pipeline for me to be able to play with him. I still, so like if I'm not, if my mind isn't geared towards trying to win a championship, I just don't know. What's my motivation to work out and keep myself healthy? Can I tell you what what motivation is to play next year? You get a 47 million to play next year. The Bron is yes. Drop in the bucket. I mean, at this point, my at this point, I mean, you can never. 47 million is 47 million. What are we talking about here? 47 is 47. You ain't lying. You ain't lying. I mean, I'm gonna take, I'm gonna take that D on Sanders foot out there for 47. Oh, geez. I know you could Google a grief. 47 million. What do you mean by that D on Sanders? I'm gonna take that out there and go ahead and ball. You know what I'm talking about. 47 million. What I'm talking about. Go ahead and mercy. I don't know if that much for you. So LeBron did say this during the war series. Early on in the warrior series, he was asked about, cause this coincided with Bronnie James announcing his decision to go to USC. And LeBron said, you know, I've done what I've done and I had to do in this league and my son is going to take his journey, whatever his journey, however, his journey lays out. He's going to do what's best for him and as his dad and his mom Savannah and his brother and sister, we're going to support him, whatever he decides to do. So just because that's my aspiration or goal to want to play with him doesn't mean it's his. And I'm absolutely okay with that. I was going to say too, isn't there a thought and you know, Lavar, your kids are older. So this is, you know, probably more in your, your mind, but don't you kind of want your kids to create their own path to, I mean, as much as it would be cool to see them live in your shadow or your legacy, there's also an element of like, I want them to build their own. Absolutely. Yeah, not even close. Maybe that's what he's weighing. You know, there's, there's part of that too where, you know, I mean, look, it makes a lot easier on family travel if you're playing on the same team. I mean, yeah, I mean, LeBron is frugal like that at times. You will see him talking about being cheap about things. Maybe he's like wants to play just so he gets on the team charter with Bronnie doesn't have to worry about, you know, charting his own flights. I don't know. Hmm. I'll just say this, whatever is reason for, for coming back. I'm sure it's legit. I will say that no, you know, no hate from me on, on LeBron. I think he has clearly established what he represents to the game and to sports in general. Um, if it's, if it's for Bronnie, you know, great. I don't, you know, can I ask you guys this? Sure. Like at this point, is there anything he can do to change the perception of how people view him versus Michael? No, like, like I grew up in an era where I've been able to see both, right? I mean, LeBron and I are high school classmates same, same year. And I look at them both. One, they're different players. I personally hate the conversation about, let's compare this guy from 20 years ago versus this guy and their prime. It's like the league's different, the game's different, all that. And then they're just the very different players. I think the one thing that like I would hold against LeBron, because I do think he is the best ever next to Michael, the only difference is the manner in which, you know, Michael would go about those end of game scenarios. It didn't matter if it was the best basketball IQ play. He was shooting the shot. He won the ball. Kobe had that too in him. That's about it. And I'll say, I love that. Kobe's my two. But I think the point is like the people who think Michael Jordan's the greatest ever are probably the same people are always going to think Michael Jordan's the, you can't do anything to convince them. The people who think LeBron is the best ever, they're probably the same boat. Like you're not going to show him some old footage and highlights and clips and games of Michael and convince them otherwise. Like, I don't know that there's anything he can prove at this point that he hasn't already proven. Yeah, I agree. I mean, let's see his winning championships. But even then, like, okay, let's say he gets past six people are going to say, well, Jordan wins, it wins six. No, Jordan never lost in the finals. Yeah. Like there's always going to be like those side-assering arguments. Yeah. Yeah, you're right. Like people are, all right, have held onto their opinions and because there's been such a divide that it just made people dig in even more on whatever their opinion is. So and their justification for it and they'll do the math and say, well, Jordan, to Brady's point was undefeated in the finals and people say, yeah, but it's more impressive that LeBron took multiple teams to the finals and won multiple championships. And then they'll discredit the bubble and they'll say, yeah, but it's, you know, LeBron did it when everybody else was trying to do it in the bubble amongst difficult circumstances. It just, I think everybody's dead set on whatever their opinion is on who the greatest of all time is LeBron. And look also, this is the first time and he's talked about potentially needing surgery in the off season. You're starting to see his body breakdown. Like that's the other part of this. And that's the one thing that is unarguable amongst everything between Jordan and LeBron. Like don't nobody even try and say, well, Michael Jordan's durability and compared to LeBron James. The number of years, I mean, Jordan missed almost all of a season early in his career. And you can say, well, load management this man, load, load management, all you want. LeBron James has played for however long he has at a high level and his body has not really broken down until recently. And maybe that's part of him just sort of understanding. I can't do it like I used to. Right. Even if I want to, but the other thing that like in regards to the argument for LeBron, you know, the, the was a nine straight, right? Yes. Whatever was, and I look like I look at the Buffalo Bills, that run they had for what was it? 91 to like 94 when they're the four straight super bowl. That's one of the greatest teams ever in NFL history, but they'll never receive the credit because they didn't win it. Yet when you think about into, into if that happened today with social media and everything else, like we tend to annoying teams that going back to back years or we look at the Kansas City Chiefs and go, well, look at them. They've won two and they're in the AFC Championship game every year, right? We've kind of anointed them as the next dynasty. Like the bills weren't super bowls for four. You could go to college and all you knew during that period of time in college, unless you did a victory lap, was the Buffalo Bills going to a Super Bowl. Yeah. It was, it was absurd. I mean, it's kind of more ridiculous that they weren't able to win one. Like you got four shots. That's like, Hey, let's, let's flip a coin. Okay. I'm going to go four straight times. You're not getting heads, right? You call, I mean, it's, it's hard to think that at some point you're not going to get a win out of that. And I think you can kind of look at that for LeBron and just go, there is sheer, it's just an incredible ability to play it that high of a level for that long and help will your team to go to that many straight finals. 281 career playoff games. That's almost three and a half seasons just to playoff basketball. And in those games, he averaged over 41 minutes a game. And this is like the Tom Brady Joe Montana argument, right? Cause when Tom Brady surpassed Joe Montana, you know, Oh, Joe Montana was undefeated. You know, when he played in Super Bowls, right? Yeah. Tom Brady wasn't here, but look how many he went to. Yeah, that's, you can't even compare to two. No, that's too many, that's too many Super Bowls. And that's how I'm sure some people feel about, one, one, that's, I'm sure some people feel about LeBron when you play in that, like anyone who's, who's played, like, and I feel like this more comes from perspective of, of, you know, most people who've been in, in the competition, but it's like just getting there is hard enough. And so they understand like how hard it is just to even have a shot, have an opportunity. And that's, and that's why I think, you know, most players probably, like, yeah, dude, like for as long as he's played the way he's played, like, I mean, he, he next to Shaq to me are the two physical, biggest physical phenoms the NBA has ever seen. Like you just don't see people who are built like that that can last like that that are, they have the combination of athleticism and everything else to dominate the game. And plus mission accomplished for a lot of people that have invested interest in all this because they've got right steals with the NBA. LeBron retirement speculations going to carry a lot of shows at certain places for a long time now. Right. What place would that be? Well, you know, yeah, places like ESPN. That would be where they were on a go. So they're going to, they're going to hold onto this one and milk this for as long as they can until LeBron decide, yeah, I'd like to come back. I feel better now. I've had a couple of weeks off and I drank some wine. What's milk? That is good. I don't know. Like he's one of them type dudes, but I'm going to show him what what King of the mammals means today, you know, for the first time in his life. What kind of shoes you going to wear? Uh, I'll probably have on some J's. Yeah, I'll probably put on some J's. So what I do, speaking of the last segment, you know, we had. Yeah. Yeah. I'll throw on some J's when I go up in there because I like to look swagged out when I'm in the gym too, you know, I'm like every once in a while, I wear my, my hocus, you know, I'll wear those. Um, for, for my cardio, make sure my feet are comfortable. Those shoes are freaking amazing. No Crocs. No, no Crocs. I got Crocs because I have Crocs on now and I, I swore I'd never wear Crocs ever in life. And, and so I have on my other side and I have more little lavards. Crocs because I couldn't find my flip flops. Yeah. So that's what he's doing right now. Like he loves like, as you know, we've done this show long enough where this dude likes to throw zingers on you. Like, what do you mean? Lee's been looking all day like, huh, Crocs on, huh? Huh? Lee's bitter. I can eat Crocs on Lee shrunk his shrunk. Lee shrunk his Crocs and he won't get over it. So he's bitter at L and he sees somebody else. It's, it's still weird that he shrunk them. Like I don't want to get into the whole, that whole conversation. I don't know how it happens. You know what Crocs are? Crocs are just Birkenstocks. They're just more comfortable. Like someone that saw Birkenstocks back in the day, which I'm sure Jonosu called the hippie movement or a bunch of hippies. Yeah. And they're like, huh, we can make these, we can make these more comfortable. Yeah. I like Birkenstocks. I like the style of them when I spent, I don't, I don't like the, the ones that really do look like biblical times Birkenstocks. But I like the ones that have like a nice little style to them. You know, one like you got the multi bottom color, like you got like the cork color, then it's got like white and then the same color of the leather. I like those. I think those are pretty, are they still even in style by the way? That were the average style. Were they ever in style? Yeah. I mean, I want to say like a few years ago, they were really, really in style. You know, we are such an in style culture and society. Like I was on my way, just a super quick story. I was on my way to was I don't know my way back. No, I was on my way to New York City. Um, and there was this family and they had two, two dog bags and they were like treating these like every, it was like such an obsession with the, they took our, our stress level up so high. Like everybody that was sitting there, they took our stress level up high because they were trying to figure out how to put these dog bags under the, under the seats. And I want it like they were from New York and I didn't want to get involved in it because they had New York accents. They, they had the New York field to them. No, no $10 fines for them. I'll tell you that. It wouldn't have been any $10 fines. They would, they was going to come with whatever it is. They were filling in that moment. Say it. So I was trying to, I wanted to tell them you do not have to force dog bags underneath the seats for, for takeoff. You don't have to store your dog underneath the seat. I wanted to say it's so bad and they're trying to store these dogs underneath the seat, starting to store story though. I guess the end of the story, the point I was making is they pulled the dogs out and it was those, it was the, the French Bulldogs or whatever the, the whole craze. There is such a craze over these, these little bulldogs. It is ridiculous. Are those the Birkenstocks of dogs? They are certainly, forget just dogs. They are the new accessory to male and, and, and female. Like those bulldogs are the new accessory. People are losers. I mean, that's just, you're carrying a couple of dogs. There, there is such a crazy obsession for those dogs, man. That's so crazy. It's like crazy hours to suck. It's probably like $1,000. Oh, no, no. That's like, that's a bottom. That's like, that's a, that's a run. You get a run for a G. Now you're talking, you're talking upwards of like 12 to 13,000. For a dog? Yeah, for dog. Cause they smell their own ass. Hey, bro. 12 to 13 grand. Depending on the markings of that dog will dictate how much you're paying. Like if it's just a regular gray one. Spray painted. You want markings on it. Buy a normal dog and, and you'll get some spray paint. That's all about markets. 12 grand for a dog. That's what it is. Get a grip. Wow. There you go. There you go. Well, what is the price here on two pros and a cup of chill? What is the price? Did Tom Brady chip in more than 12 grand to be the new owner of the Raiders or partial owner of the Raiders? Now that he's bought in, now that it, it is actually happened. And Tom Brady's got a minority stake in the Raiders. The NFL is going to need to approve it. It's not going to happen this week in Minnesota, but apparently Tom Brady's back. TB 12 is back in Las Vegas. And who would have thought, by the way, that's back. Raider fans like Birdo, who were so bitter about the tuck rule all these years later, that guy was going to end up being part owner of your team. Like what, what, what a dunk on your face posterized move by LeBron by Tom Brady to go ahead and just decide, hey, I'm sorry about that play and that call years ago, the cost you guys a chance to go to a Super Bowl. But you know what? I'm going to go ahead and own your team anyways. Kind of disrespectful. And then Birdo's throwing up. Now I literally own you, Berta. I own you. Like I literally own you. I've been retin space. I've been retin space in you guys's heads for years now. Now I own your team. Now I don't even rent. Do you think we'll get Tom to publicly admit like Jimmy Garoppolo did when you walked through the Raiders facility that it was a fumble? It was a fumble. Did Jimmy G come through there and say like, oh, I was a fumble. Yeah, I think so. Cause he said the play was, was it on the wall? Like they have a picture of the play in the facility and he saw it. I mean, it totally changed. That's your trajectory of both teams. We could dig a little deeper into that. Oh, I mean, maybe that motivated Tom to be like, oh, you think that's a fumble, huh? Huh? You got to fumble? I was going to say, let me get a few more. And then we'll see how things go this year. I was going to say Jimmy Garoppolo can't catch a break. Like he cannot get rid of Tom Brady and the or of Tom Brady. I wonder will Tom Brady had that photo removed from the wall? Yeah. And if you want to see for the right investment, right? Right. Just have a photo shop to be thinking about though, like Jimmy, in the quarterback meeting room, you know, he's got Josh McDaniel's in there and Josh is like, oh, that's not how Tommy used to do it. Come on, Jimmy. Like that, and then Tom's in the very back behind Josh to sit in the ball. Yeah. Yeah, Jimmy, that's not how I did it. This is what you should be thinking here, pal. Um, can I give you a conspiracy theory though? But I do need some music. Oh, oh, yeah. Yeah, Finn too long. Oh, I'm ready for this. Here we go. Okay. Come on. I think this is a slippery slope for the NFL. So hang with me. Let's just say I'm an owner. Okay. And I'm offering one Lovar, Ariant, and a contract. This is why you're playing Lovar. Okay. And I'm trying to convince you to take a, take a, take a little discount here. Okay. Help us create some more cap space, but, uh, wink, wink. I just wink to you. A little nod. I'll make sure to take care of you when you're done. What does that mean? You know, when you're done, maybe there's a little chance for you to, uh, you know, have a, have a little piece of equity. Oh, okay. Now granted, this scenario is different because Tom never played for Mark Davis or for the Raiders. However, I think once you allow a former player who's a year removed or just getting out of the league, to then be able to invest into a team that he played for, I think it complicates things. I think it makes it, there's, it makes the potential for people to think that, well, they just deferred essentially some of the payments he was going to make for him to be able to have an ownership stake or an equity stake in the team once he was done. So again, not this specific scenario because Brady never played for the Raiders, but let's just say this was Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots. There was already rumors that like, why did Tom Brady always take a team discount? Was it to try to, you know, create cap space to win a Super Bowl or was it because maybe there was a, you know, a wink, wink, not, not agreement there for after things were all said and done or people would talk about, hey, there's different payments that things happening under the table. And that's why he was able to do that. Yeah. You know, maybe the Cincinnati Bengals might want to hit up Joe Burrow. Use this thought and just say, hey, listen, we know like Joe Burrow is already investing in a bunch of stuff. Like I think he invested in a farm in Iowa. Like he's already invested in a bunch of other stuff like randomly. Like what if the Bengals came to him and said, hey, it's not going to look all that great to the media. But here's a kick down for after your career is over. You can be a part of the part of the family here for long term. To answer the question. I think it's a certain. Hell yeah, it does. I think it opens the door for it to be discussed. I mean, these owners are really open to allowing guys in that way. Yeah, it certainly opens it up. It's so funny. I had, this is a true story. I had this conversation with Ray Lewis before his going into his last contract that he should position himself to get ownership. Like whatever it is you do, do not leave Baltimore. Do not leave and play somewhere else. Leverage this into getting an ownership stake in in the Ravens. Like that was a conversation we had. Like and so to me, guys have always had conversations of possibly being part of. I know for me early on, I definitely was thinking about how that would be possible to take some of that long money that I was getting from Dan Snyder and put it back into ownership stake possibly with that team. And it never ended up materializing and obviously things went really, really bad relationship wise. But for time, me and Helmer, like we were besties, like straight. And that's why I think the whole, you know, the way things kind of went a little Danny. That's why I got so ugly, kind of so bad. Because we were you and little Danny. We were really close, man. Yeah. Before he was little Danny, that was I told you, man, I told you, I got folks up in the DC area, man. I know about the DMV. They said they got that eyes on you and little Danny, you know, courtside. I don't know about courtside, but we had a lot of stuff together. Up in the swine. I mean, I ain't going to like, whoa, pause, but you know what I mean. And pause, but yeah, we do. Listen, now, but I know, LaVar, you were saying this that if you did own an NFL team, first thing you would do is make sure they've all got natural grass. Like that's one of the first. Is that right? Yeah. I remember you telling me that one time, like natural grass as in like weed or at natural gas as in like not using artificial turf. Yeah. Like not artificial turf. Yeah, the natural. Well, you know, the interesting thing about that, Jonas, is that artificial turf fields actually cost 32. It's probably do you? Uh, artificial turf, artificial turf fields cost 32% more non-contact knee injuries. Now, that is not a laughing matter. Looking at Jonas and how he looks right now, however, is, but I'll say this on a more serious note, our people out American grassy company, Pennington. As I look up into the sky and walk down the sand with my toes in the sand, looking at the water, looking at the waves coming towards me, then I look at a seagull, looking over the beach for some food. And then it lands on the beach and finds some Doritos right next to me. Yeah. Then I look at the can. It's empty with a crab crawling out of it. It was its home. And now it's heading back to the water. Yeah. Now I'm going up for a little bit of lunch with a friend and we're going to drink lattes. And I don't know, but it sends me. Maybe it sends me. Happy birthday to Drew Carey. Are you guys happy birthday true? Yes, sir. Are you guys in or out on the prices right, especially back in the day, you know, sick day out watching prices right? Back in the day. I'm in. I'm all the way in. I'm a super market sweep guy and I'm loyal. You can like both. Hey man, programming was so limited back in our childhood. The prices right literally was the only like good programming that was on TV at that hour than super market sweep. Yes. And I'll still watch it to today. Hey, who was the guy? Was it Bob Barker back then? Yeah, he's 99 years old. He's still alive. Although I did like that. The microphone Bob Barker had that like skinny. He always had that skinny microphone. She gets some of those in here. Bob Barker was a smooth dude from where he was. Yes, he did. From all of the discussion. He was okay. Yeah. So it's true. I used to hear a lot of like I used to hear a lot of things. You know what I mean about Bob Barker. Yeah, he maybe some of their last names get our Barker and the price was rice, you know. Yeah. He was bad. Hammer. The Barker Hammer. Okay, Lee, what you got man? It's also your favorite braided national lucky penny day. You guys hit her out on low pennies. I don't even touch coins anymore. I think they're filthy. Okay, I had a buddy. I had a buddy beneath me. I had a buddy who collected nickels because nickels used to be made of a certain high percentage of actual nickel, which is a precious metal. It was actually the nickel itself was worth more than five cents. So his scheme was to go around and buy up all the nickels and store them for them to potentially increase in value. You'd have to melt down the nickels themselves to be able to get the precious metal, which I don't think you can deface currency like that. But that was his scheme. Somewhere he's got like hundreds of pounds of nickels stored away, where he's waiting for this moment to literally melt them down and sell it off as a precious metal. How's it going so far? I still he's still holding on to you. I think he's got it somewhere in storage and they're like, yeah, you know, he's moved his storage spot a couple times, so he's had to move them. And it's such a hassle to move them that I just I laugh every time. I'm like, this is maybe not one of your greatest plans. When you see people counting out change in the store, like I kind of like that, you know, I hate it to throw back, especially when you take like, like people are tapping. So it's even quicker than like swiping your card anymore. Like you tap boom done like nothing. You want to receive no hell who wants to receive it's going to be digitally created. Like we're good. You see somebody get up in there and they're literally counting nickels, dimes and pennies. Like I'd be like, listen, man, I'll just pay for that. Like just please get the hell out of the way. I got a bunch of my car right now. Okay. Case that's ridiculous. Why? My uncle used to walk around with a quarter in his ear. I said, what you need that for? Just in case I need to make an emergency phone call. They were still using pay phones back then when he did it. Wait, hold on real strange, but he was OG with.
