Let's get started with today's lesson.
One student says she has difficulty with STS sounds, like in the words costs and guests.
How can she pronounce these better? Well, the way I do it is while making the S sound, I touch the tip of my tongue to the back of my teeth quickly to make a very tiny T sound in the middle.
When speaking fast, we only hear a tiny hint of the T. In fact, sometimes it just turns into one long S sound.
Listen to these examples. Costs. It costs $40. Guests. We're guests at this hotel. Scientists. The scientists made a discovery.
Tests. I have two tests tomorrow. Rists. My wrist hurt. Trusts. He trusts you.
So again, just a tiny hint of the T or even it seems to disappear in the middle of all those S's. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and I'll talk to you tomorrow.
