Goose Chicks Pod Takes Chicago with Lucas

of service. Hello everyone and welcome to the April Live broadcast episode of Goose Chicks Podcast. My name is Lazy Mack. I'm a producer and co-host of Goose Chicks Podcast which is an all women's led show focused on the Bang Goose and the community that supports them. We are really excited for today's show. We were all lucky enough to be together recently in Chicago at Goose's two night run at the Salt Shed and so we are here to talk all about it. In addition to that we have some amazing interviews that we were able to do with fans at the shows at the Salt Shed so we will be sharing some of those throughout the show. But first let's get the rest of the crew up here. Chelsea, Alexia, Hannah, what's going on y'all? How are you today? Awesome. Still kind of waking up because I'm a late sleeper. I'm just going to be honest with it. We can all watch my face and smell as the show goes off. I have to go to a soccer game later and I was like wait, I kind of need to be dressed for the game before we go live because I won't have time. So yes, I'm happy to see all of y'all and missing you already even though we just saw each other in Chicago but still missing you all. I wanted to have a little bit of a convo amongst ourselves about something we talked about on site which was that this is probably the fourth or fifth show or fourth or fifth run that we've all been able to be together at. But together for us means something a little different than it might mean to other folks and I wanted to open today's show kind of talking about that because we had a convo in Chicago about it. The thing we were talking about was how much we really love the fact that we respect each other enough and love each other enough to let us each do our own thing it shows even though we're going to the shows together. So I wanted to open the floor with that just some thoughts from each of you around that concept and like how it plays out for us and what's so unique about it. Chelsea, I'll start with you because you always have the best insight so we'll start there. Well, I think for me it's always been important to keep, try to keep my experience as my experience. That's why I wanted to do this podcast is to share my experience and so I don't want that to change so much because of the podcast to say true to my connection with Goose. And so I've been really thankful that there's never felt any pressure from any of us to come do it my way or come with me. Leslie wants to go up there early and she's ready at noon to go get in line and I'm just like, you do your thing girl but I'm not coming with you. I got stuff to do. I want to take a nap or whatever it is. So just the way that it's so naturally just been as for able to just be ourselves and not like feel like we have to change or do something different. It's just been really amazing especially for me because I think I really thrive on my independence and being able to do things my own way. So that's just been I guess a really nice surprise I guess out of this is like that we can still be together but we're not together. Yeah, I want to turn to Hannah and just ask you to, we never talked about this, right? It was not like a concerted thing that we discussed. It just happened really naturally. What do you think that is about like, what is it about the four of us and our connection with each other and with the band that made that so natural for us to not have that pressure? Like you need to be with me on the rail or you need to be in the back with me or you need to be on this side with me. What is that? It's a little bit tangible. I thought you might have some thoughts on like what made it happen that way. Well, I think one thing and this is going to sound really corny but it is true that we all value a particular type of friendship and so Chelsea has said some things to me recently about sort of the landscape of a jam band show where I'm just like, oh yeah, like the way we understand how we can be happy at this type of show is not how a lot of other people maybe are. Like for me, I've never had to like be like, okay, I'm with the rail people and the rail crew and so I have to hang out with them. You know, like I like to be Bob, I like to meet people but like also not in a superficial way like in a genuine way. And so I think that is really important to me. And so I know that if we're not going to like be in the same area or like the same geography of a show, we will come back at some point and be like, oh my God, what also jam sandwich? You know what I'm saying? My sister just said be Bob. Yeah, I know that we'll get back together and we'll be able to talk about the things we need to talk about. And I also feel like shows really give you what you need if you don't have this head space of like, I need to do, I have to be with these people. During the pancakes, during the Chicago run, I left and needed fresh air and went out with my friends and we were they were organically talking with people and smoking a cigarette and which by the way, I have seen or smelled three cigarettes being smoked inside at Gushos recently. And so I just have to take a moment and say, if you're listening and you see people smoking cigarettes inside, please, please, please say something. Usually I can only smell it but one time I saw a guy doing it and I was, he looked scary. He looked like a bro and so I didn't say anything so I was too scared but it's disgusting. But anyway, so the people we were talking to though, we ended up featuring a podcast because of that. So it felt very much like we are supposed to be here in this moment and I didn't feel like I was missing out on the full concert experience because I wasn't on the rail with you or I wasn't in the middle section with Tyler and that group. Yeah, very true. Lex, I want to turn to you because so often it shows you're working which is a very different kind of entry point than the rest of us. So like your prep, you've got to really be like rested, you've got to be stretched out. Like if you be ready to be doing a very physical job and photograph photographing the band and photographing the show. So yeah, what has that been like for you? I feel like you were able to approach us from a very different place. Or literally sometimes on the other side of the rail. So yeah, what's that been like for you? Knowing you're with us, we're staying in the same Airbnb or we're sharing hotel space or we're definitely eating together for meals and things like that. What's out like for you as you head into the show and what's it been like having this crew added to your many, many crews that you're a part of in the Guocene. So thank you for asking this because this is at first something that was very worried about because I'm the type of person when I do something, I do it because of passion. And so I put myself in a bubble like, okay, I've got to get ready for this. I've got to, and this is with anything that I do. And so I'm getting my mind ready for it. And I'm not really paying attention to a lot of my friends. Like, so I'm in complete independent zone at this point. And Leslie actually has some pictures of me where she's like right there at me. You could reach out and touch me and I'm just like total my arms cross looking a different way with my headphones and as your boss stands, I call it your boss dance. A little rocky mode, just prep, prep, prep. Yeah. Yeah. So when I'm shooting the shows and stuff, I'm just completely in professional mode on that side. And I'm thinking about it from that side. But it's completely a different way of enjoying the show. It's not that I'm not enjoying the show because I absolutely do. I still, after a certain time in the show, like I'm definitely enjoying it with all my friends. I'm, you know, be bopping around because I do the same thing that Hannah does. Like, you know, everyone laughs because when I'm not shooting a show and I get into the venue, like you will not see me until the show is about to begin because I've got to go say, Hey, to everyone and, you know, and talk to everyone. So there are many different ways that approach the show, but I still worry that some of my friends, like, you know, that I think everyone's figured it out by now. You know, that's what I'm doing. But I still always worry that my friends would be like, Oh, I have come in my thoughts. And it's not that at all. It's just me trying to get into my headspace. And, but I'm also the type of person that's not going to push. I'm like, if y'all say, Hey, there's enough room. Hey, we saved a space for you right now and everyone agreed on it. You know, then I'll, then I'll come up second set, but I'm starting to really enjoy, you know, being back with, being back with Getty and Eric and stuff, you know, watching it from their view is really, it's really awesome. We're watching it from like, you know, side stage or whatever. That's fun. But, but I don't want to shoot every show because I want to come out and enjoy with, you know, with my friends. So, so, you know, I won't shoot every show. I'm just like, okay, I'll do this and this one. And, you know, and maybe this one. And then I'm going to also come out and live it up because you both owe them a passion, goose and photography. So I've got to be able to enjoy it from both ways, not just one way. Yeah, for sure. It puts me in mind this conversation on something that Becky Timmons said when she was on the show, where she was talking about, you know, when Peter and her are apart, sometimes it's good because they, when they come back together, they have different experiences to share. And I feel like for the four of us, that's what ends up happening at the end of the night. We're like, all like, okay, meet out front. And when we finally gather together, we have completely different experiences of the exact same show that we have to talk about from wherever we were in the building for whoever was around us for good, bad and, you know, the different, good, bad and the ugly, the beautiful, all of it. Right. And we have a different thing to add that, you know, we didn't exactly each see because of where we were. And so for me, it sort of creates a more three dimensional picture of the show for me because I have the three of you to be like, oh, this is what it was like in the balcony or this is what it was like in the back or on Trev's side. This is what was going on. And Alexis, maybe some, what was going on backstage? Was there anything like interesting there? So I feel like for me, it's like we get to debrief with each other at all these shows that we attend and it adds like just more of the experience. For me, I'm not just getting my own, you know, viewpoint about any of the shows we go to because really, anyway, as long as you're in the building, you're going to have a great time. That's the beauty of Goose. And so for me, it's just been really great to be able to share all of that with the, with the three of you, which is why I love when we go to shows together, even though we aren't sitting together or standing together or necessarily in the same space for the duration of the show. So everyone's loving your cat Chelsea. So maybe I'm telling everyone your cat's name so they know. Oh, this is Benji. He's a rascal. He probably, he makes noise. So I'm trying to just, because he'll get into stuff. So I'm hoping he'll chill here. No, no, there he goes. There he goes. He's out. All right. So I want to, as I mentioned at the top of the show, we did, I did some interviews with some folks at the Salt Shed, which was really fun. So expect me to approach you at shows moving forward because this was the first time I actually just was like, you know what? Let's try it. And we got some really great commentary from folks. So we're going to start with the first one, which is from someone named Odessa. So let's hear what Odessa had to say. All right. So how did you discover? Goose, my husband. Ah, good man. Yeah, he was like, you're going to check this band out. You're going to love them from that point on. It's constant. It's their number one top tier. You love them. Harder agree. Yeah. What's your favorite thing about this music? Your stress melts. Your stress melts. And for a moment, you lose yourself in such a whirlwind of music. It's incredible. It plays with your emotions. It pulls things out of you and just allows you to release. It's just a release. Yeah. How would you describe Goose's sound to someone who's never heard them before? Oh, they're so good. So good. It's just incredible. It's upbeat. It's fun. It's gritty. They're incredible. It's just, yeah. It's heartwarming. It feels good on the soul. Yes. Who do you usually go to Goose shows with? My husband. Yes. And he's a little guilty. Yup. What's your favorite thing about the Goose community if you notice anything that's you? Everybody is family. They are 100%. We were leaving our hotel this morning and I had my goose shirt on and this guy walked past us and he goes, what's up fam? Yeah. He knew why we were there. Everybody knows why you're in the area and it's like your family. I love it. 100%. You're like a show with all of your best friends. Every show, I'd like that show. Yes. We made like seven best friends yesterday at the show. We were at the show yesterday. And then we're going to do these so good. Yeah. What, in your opinion, is the underrated goose song. Undery. Oh my gosh. That's hard because they're all good. I like that none of them are underrated to me like, oh, there's. You're the chicks. I don't know. I got mine. What would you answer me? I'm just curious. That's hard for me because they're all highly rated for me. They are highly rated. I feel like it's a fun one. I don't know. I don't know. That's a hard one. I always say Bob Donne for that because I do feel like it's underrated. But I love when they play it. Yeah, for sure. What's your favorite thing about the way goose's music brings people together? Everybody is just here to have a good time. Everybody just needs that relaxed, that distress from the hustle and bustle that is our lives with work for a couple of hours in the day. You get to come and just kind of lose all of that and forget all of that. Even if the door is stepped and forget everything. Love that. Okay. Last question. Are you aware of any goose related conspiracy theories? Handini. He's on my water bottle. I'm a little sicker of handini. I'm a little nervous. Okay. Just your first name and where you're from? Dand it out. Do you want like state or just the state or? Or the state where you want to say it? Oh, she was one of you. Okay. My name is Odessa and I'm from Wisconsin. All right. Oh, Dessa, I agree completely. That is amazing. That's so cute. I loved talking with her. She was great. And just a note, she's also a black woman. And so I saw her. I was like, oh, let me go over there and chat her up and see what's going on with her. And she was so cute. Chelsea and I got to take a photo with her night too. I'll post that on our stories later. But it was just a great time. Any thoughts or on Odessa's response with these questions? I love that leave it at the doorstep idea because I do feel like that's what it is. It's like a shedding. And I really goose feels like church to me so often. I literally like, oh, it's a church song. Born as a church song to me. You know, I have so many songs that I think are goose church songs for me and that were up there at the altar to quote California magic. Yeah. What are y'all thoughts on Odessa's commentary? I think that she was spot on. I think that that's exactly why I started going was because I was like, oh my gosh, this is the one thing that I can leave everything at the door and not worry about it. And you know, and so that got me and then it got me going more and more and more because the world just kept getting tougher and tougher and tougher. And the news just kept getting nastier and nastier and nastier to where it was just like, whoo, this is the one place that I can enjoy everything and leave it at the door. So I completely agree. Odessa, you're so right. I wish I would have met you. I agree, but I want to add on to that because I also feel like it's a great time. It's a place of inspiration for me. So like shout out to Leslie. It's her birthday for a run. We're all doing coming up. And I was like, I'm really weird about birthdays in that I like have to try and find the perfect gift if I'm celebrating with you, but ask me perfect for you. And so Leslie is a hard person to shop for in my humble opinion because she will just get everything she wants herself. And I've had I've had people that might want my exes was like that too. And so I had inspiration at the show of like, ah, and I'm like texting likes, even though she's working that show, the photography. So I wouldn't forget or like, actually, I don't know what to lecture on for my last lecture that I have to come back to. And I ended up doing like having inspiration for a lecture. And it was actually directly related to goose because I talked about empathy. And so we all know Peter and Becky's whole empathy thing. And so or campaign, I guess you could say, and I'd seen a few couples that had that shirt on. And so that was really on my mind. And I was thinking about how a lot of my students are going to go out and do law enforcement or something in the criminal system. And I want them to walk away with a better sense of empathy for people that they're going to deal with in that capacity. And that's what I love shirt on. So. I love that you mentioned the whole thing about inspiration because that happens to me at shows so often about this show, about the podcast. And y'all know, I'll text in the group chat. I'm like, disregard this for now, but I needed to get it out. We should do XYZ. And so I do find myself having those moments of like clarity or inspiration or, yeah, just thinking of something and like, oh, this would be great to do or somebody that I'm talking to will give me a good idea. And I'll just text. I'm like, no need to read this y'all, but I just needed to get it out. So I don't forget it because I don't want to forget. So that's definitely happened to me many times up there, just kind of soaking it all in. I think, you know, when your brain is at that relaxed place that Goose's music brings you to that place of just like clearing all of the gunk out and all the negativity out, you really find yourself in this sort of blissful state of openness and ability to think about things differently than you would have as with all the rest of the noise of the world. Chelsea, you're our resident like show meditator. So I want to just touch back with you on that, like, because you really get a lot spiritually directly yourself at shows. And I know it's been a little challenging as we've pushed you out of that comfort zone just a little bit where we're going to be working together to make sure that you have the balance that you need. But yeah, any thoughts, Ronald, does this comments? I like how she said it. I don't know the exact word she used, but it's like good for your soul, she said. And so that's how I feel like Goose shows is like I really, and this is probably why I don't mind going alone or like to go alone, is because I really am just like entrenched in the music and what is happening, the sounds and the lights and just having a whole internal experience. I see it as very singular when I met shows a lot of the time. And so I really do feel like it's like touching my soul. Like it's really getting deep down to those parts of me. So I like that she said that. And that also how would you describe Goose's sound? She's like, they're just so good. That's all you can say. They're just so good. I don't know. I can't wait to have everyone listen to more of the interviews because the response of that question was most interesting to me. I want it to because I have trouble actually. Usually I just send people music, most of them for the most part. Here, you know, drip field or something like that. But people had really good answers to that. We're going to do something exciting. I'm excited for us. Actually, there's one person who answered that and I was like, OMG, that was the most perfect answer. So I don't know if you're going to play that one, but I hope so. I don't think I am. That's the only double. So next week's episode, you'll hear the rest of the interviews. So make sure you tune in to the podcast that comes out Wednesday. You'll hear a lot more of these interviews. But we're going to play about six of them on the show today. So let's switch gears because we're going to kind of pepper those commentaries throughout the conversation today and talk about Chicago. We're going to talk about each night, but I wanted to talk real quickly overall, just like general overall thoughts about the two nights. And did you feel specifically like this was a dip tick of shows or could they be taken separately? Sometimes I know the cap run was like that for me. Like, they approached it in my opinion as a five night run. And it felt like one that they were crafting something specific. And so I'm curious if you felt the same thing for the Chicago shows and then just overall thoughts. Let's start with you, Hannah. I do think that they crafted it as a run in that way. But I think they needed at least one extra night because like, I know at least for set or night one, there was stuff left off the set list that we thought we were going to get night two and we didn't and it was legit because they ran out of time. Because like, if you notice, Bob Dom was one of those songs and I was like, okay, they're going to play it night two. But then they didn't. They played it either the next show or the show after. And so yeah, I just think it should have been like a three or four night run in Chicago. But me and my crew got a lot of like pretty much everything we were chasing except for I haven't gotten factory fiction, but that's a whole thing. That could be a whole podcast episode chasing factory fiction. So that could be a whole podcast chasing factory fiction. Just about chasing songs generally. Yes. Yeah. They played it last night though. Did I hear they played it? They did. They didn't play it. They did. But I'm hoping Louisville because they played at Louisville last time. So that's my hope, my dreams. But yeah, I wish we had more nights, but yes. Chelsea, what about you? I think was it, did you feel like it was a journey over the two nights? Did you think they picked up the conversation from night one to night two? Because sometimes that's very deliberate. They'll even finish in the middle of a jam and then pick it up the next night. Or did you really take them as separate shows? Well, they did finish Madhuvah in the next night, I think. So that adds a connection there. But to me, I honestly just felt like they were having fun. They were having so much fun up there and just like doing whatever they wanted. It felt very to me like we're just going to hang out tonight and just see what happens. So to me, it didn't feel so planned, if you will. But there was those connections between the two nights. So I know that they were being intentional about some things. Shout out to Nikki, intentional about some things. She'll probably be the only one that gets that. But... These years all works. We're talking about being intentional with our shows and what shows we see, what people we spend time with and things. And so, yes, just wanted to shout her out. Goose is intentional too. So to me, though the first night, I was just like, they're just having fun. It did not feel like it was thought out in any sort of way. It was just like what they felt was what I got from it. And Lex, with your unique perspective, what did you think? Was this a two run that they really approached as a two run or what do you think? I don't feel that they approached as a two run at all. I don't feel that that was a two run. I feel night one, that they were having fun. I feel night two, that they came in and crushed it. And then to make it feel kind of just to tease with you because they love to mess with everyone and stuff. And they were like, oh, well, we'll just put this like the end of my divide on this. But to me, the feeling was not at all. It was like a, they thought it out, they ran it through. This is what we're going to do. I don't think it felt like a two night, you know, like, I don't think that was their intentions on it was like, hey, we're going to make this a two night run. I've been to a lot of two nighters and that did not feel like it was, you know, that did not feel like the intention I did that at all. Yeah, it makes me think of, I think the first show you and I met at, which was the Pullman Yard shows last year, that felt like a continued conversation. Like they finished night one and it was like a comma or a dot, dot, dot, like it definitely was not an end of show. I thought this definitely had a deaf beginning and end to each of the shows. And I also think that the vibe was a little different in terms of the flow of the shows, which we'll get into when we talk about each of the nights because night two was really special in some ways to me as far as flow goes. So we'll get into that. But before we get into night one, we've got another commentary we're going to listen to and this one is from our friend Rachel out in Louisville. Let's hear what Rachel had to say. Okay, how did you discover goose? So I work with Colleen and she introduced me to goose for the bingo tours during the pandemic. So I was like parting her backyard every weekend, watching streams and then I got to go to my very first show in the camp and it was incredible. The rest is history. The rest is history, I love it. What's your favorite thing about this is music? Yeah, I'm not wearing it. The community for sure. I mean, like I, we travel like 30 deep with the Louisville crew like to every show and I've met so many amazing like influential people and it's the community for sure. I love it. How would you describe goose as sound to someone who hasn't heard goose before? Have you heard the indie group band? No, I would definitely describe it as just very uplifting and dancy and yeah, like Colleen said, very meaningful lyrics. Yeah, just bringing people together. I love that. I will ask you the same question about the underrated song. But what's the most underrated song in your opinion? Man, I always say this, I love butter rum to the ends of the earth and I know that that's not everyone's favorite but I'm always a huge fan of Peter's songs because it's just part on his sleeve, the sweetest things I've ever heard and any Peter's song is it for me. Like I love those. I love it. I love it. Okay. So, curveball question, what's your favorite goose related conspiracy theory? Conspiracy theory. Did you know any? I'm just asking you, I don't know if there are any out there. People would stuff like that. You found each other. Oh, thank you. Oh, we did. Hold on one sec. Say your name and where you're from? Rachel Lopez, Louisville Contempo. Alright, thanks Rachel. That's my girl right there. When I was at my first like Fred Show and stuff, we met the Louisville crew. It was so funny because we're like, you know, we are rail riders. They're rail riders. And so we met Noah up on the rail and you know, everyone's like holding each other's spots. And so we like instantaneously became best friends because we were holding spots for each other. So the Louisville crew is an amazing crew and they have taught us so much in this group. So I love Rachel. I love Colleen. They're awesome. And the house plant crew shot out to house plant and the greenhouse. Yes, I don't tell you how to shout out to Louisville crew. We cannot wait to be in your city in June. Very excited about those shows. It's going to be a good time. I think all of us are going to those shows. Yeah. I don't think people understand. I don't think people understand. If you haven't been to a Louisville show, you don't understand. Like I went to so many shows last year. My still probably my favorite show was the Louisville crew. Like, I mean, the Louisville show because it was the energy there is insane. It is absolutely insane. And so that was definitely, definitely by far like one of my favorite shows. And we went to a lot of amazing shows, but y'all get hyped up and ready for Louisville and a two-nighter there. It's going to be a good one. Yeah. And also shout out to house plant crew because through this podcast, I've gotten into them and I actually might go to Cincinnati a little bit early next weekend and it will be 90% because house plant is playing a show there. So, yeah. So, yeah. Excellent. Tell us any comments about Rachel's responses to the questions. I just thought it was cute that like someone came up to say hi to you. Like while you were talking to her, you squealed both of you because you were so excited to see. I think it was, Nick, that was really new. I think it was. You got to mention, y'all just were outside doing the interviews. And so people would be coming up. I'm like, you hear me squeal. Like, oh my God, we found each other. Hold on. And the interviews. So, I like the spontaneity of it all. All right. So, let's turn our attention to night one Friday, 414 at the Salt Shed. I'm not going to talk too much about the venue because if you listen to our show that's coming up on Wednesday, we spent a lot of time discussing the venue. So, today we want to talk about the show and we have our standard questions. We always go through. We're not a song by song recap show. So that's not what you're going to hear from us. But I'll start with the first question, which is where were you in the house night one? Lex, we'll start with you. Oh, maybe she can't hear me. Can you hear me, Lex? Where were you in the house Friday night night one? Oh, you're muted. You're muted. All right. We'll go over. Hannah, where were you night one? Yes. Sorry. Now I'm back. Oh, go ahead, Lex, then. Where were you night one? Night one, I was at the salt shed. I was on the other side of the rail to begin with set one. And then I went back to 80 AC. That place was jam packed and it was really cool to be able to go. Oh, I think our internet's getting a little choppy. Can I just roll over to you? Can you hear me still? Yep. Yeah, we can hear you now. Okay. So it was really cool to be able to go to the front to the back and to be able to see all the lights. And then set two, I was all the way up on the rail beside my rail peeps and enjoying the rail. And that was a lot of fun. How about you? Where were you in the house? Yeah. So we did some exploring on night one. I would say I spent the most amount of time sort of in the middle Trevor side by the bar. Excuse me. But a small group of us went upstairs to the second and third floor area and to speak to what Lex said about the ADA stuff. One thing that was cool about the salt shed is they had an ADA section in the GA area of the first, second and third floor. So I think if that was more known, then it would have helped with what you were talking about. But because it's such a new venue, I don't think people knew the lay of the land. But yeah, I thought that was a unique feature of that and speaks to the ADA stuff. Yeah, it was a crowded show. So we definitely had to spend some time navigating where we all wanted to be and all that stuff. But we had a big enough group that like for a while me, my sister and my bestie Andy were upstairs and everyone else was downstairs. And we just wanted space to like dance. And there was a lot of newbie fans who it was like their first, second and third show. And they would be really excited if they knew the lyrics and they'd be like singing and dancing with me and stuff. It was really cute. So fun upstairs for sure. I love it. I had a lot of fun at the cap upstairs. So that's a surprise me. Bibes are nice in balconies. Chelsea, where were you? Trebside that night. I know that's your usual post-up spot. So yeah, where were you? Yeah, so I was trebside. I actually made the rail, y'all. But it was the very end of the rail as far as you could get trebside. So I was kind of like on the end, but I like it that way because I don't want to get too far in the middle because you got to get in and out anyways. It was good for me. Disclaimer two people. I want to normalize. I do not get in line early. I got in line like to add doors is my typical get in line. I was up there with Leslie talking to people, but I was like, I wasn't worried about getting in line. I was just like hanging out. Anyway, so you can just come at doors and still get really close and get a good spot. So don't feel like if you're not there at noon or one o'clock that you're not going to get a good spot, like that is not real. You can come at doors. You'll be fine. I was able to get up trebside like super close to Trev on the rail, which was amazing for breathing space too. Yeah, it's my favorite thing about being on the rail actually besides me. I'm up there most of the time. I really like watching the interaction between the band members. When people ask you why do I want to be upfront, it's because of that, like seeing how they communicate with each other, how they listen to each other and react to each other. I find it really fascinating. It's a really unique thing about Goose. And I've, you know, y'all know I've been a fish fan for a really long time and I like to sit behind them for the same reason when they're in big arenas because you can really see how they interact with each other. So I'm very into those things because to me it's how the ebb and flow of the show goes and how the music goes. And so watching them make each other laugh or watching them signal to each other, all of that stuff really gets me going and I really love it. All right. Q2, what was your jam of the night? I'm going to just say I don't think I've heard a better hunger site than I did this night. So I'll just start off with that if y'all have other ones that you would pick out. But I mean, over 30 minutes, I think it's almost 34 minute hunger site. It actually honestly took my breath away. I got very emotional and the jam was so deep. It was just beautiful. I don't know what to say about it was gorgeous. I second that and I was going to say hunger site and I specifically remember when it ended and they started into the mist. I literally yelled, I don't know if you can hear me, but I was like, that was beautiful. That's all I could think. It was like, that was beautiful. So hunger site for the wind for that one. Yeah, and a great transition into the mist, which I don't know if I've heard those two songs back to back before, but it was a great pairing with that really long jam and then going into instant mist, which is so emotional and heartfelt. Hannah, how about you? What tapped into this? I'm on and everything must go kick right now. I was legit crying when they played that. And then they went into that, which just lifts your spirits and makes you dance and a bunch of people from our hashtag, Caturday crew, we're chasing that. They're a huge fish head. So that's like their favorite new song. And we got that right after. So for me, that was a really cool transition to have the gig in the gang, I guess. So that was mine. Yeah. I love that. Lex, I know you were shooting a lot of this. So you get to enjoy it, but from a different perspective, what stood out for you, jam-wise. Yeah, what was the one that was like, that hit. So for me, into the mist is always, that always hits me and I was really pumped to get that into the mist. Because I never go into a show expecting stuff. But for some reason, into this run, I was just like, man, please let me get that into the mist. Please let me get that into the mist. So a hunger site was sick, leading into the mist. And I was just like, at that point, I was literally in tears because I'm able to enjoy the show at that point because it was so jam-packed. Usually I'm working the whole show. At this point, it was so jam-packed and they didn't have it down. Security was kind of being wishy-washy the first night and everything. So at this point, I'm like, give it up. Just give it up and enjoy. So that was, it was hunger site into the mist was for me just that whole time I was in heaven. I mean, having the whole time I'm there anyway, but that was what hit it for me. We're both of those. Love it. Love it. It's a beautiful show. When were you most moved? I think we talked a little bit about when we were most each moved, but Lex, what moved you in the show? What was like really tapped into? That's a hard one to say. I got kind of kind of in a personal thing about it and stuff. So we can leave it there literally. Just leave it right there. I'm glad you had a moment though. I definitely did. Definitely. That's awesome. Me, I just always love Red Bird. Generally speaking, it always hits me in a different way and always makes me want to call my mom after shows. So that really hit me and I, yeah, it was a beautiful rendition and I really loved the Red Bird. So I was a little emotional there and I, all I need openers always make me emotional like at the very top of the show and I'm like, damn it. I'm already like about to cry and we just started the show. So those two things definitely I was like getting a little teary. I had a little misty. Hannah, how about you? Well, I love that you said that because I feel like every time I get an all I need opener, there's a lot of chaos happening and then all I need comes on and I like whatever needed to happen needed to happen. And so I say that because my sister was struggling to get into the show. I had her ticket. She had all her pump stuff because she's still breastfeeding and so that slowed her down at the security. And so as she's walking past security, finally through the doors, all I need comes on. And so that was really magical obviously because my sister were really close. She's literally on the chat right now. And so yeah, it was just like that for me night one, just like that song coming on when my sister's walking in and everything is falling into place was just like. I love it. Chelsea finally you with that one. Where were you most moved during this first show? I'm going to second Hannah's love for everything must go because that's been hitting me really hard lately. Shout out to Nikki getting all I need. And she got tons of first time songs this run so so happy for her. Honestly, Seeker's on the Ridge specifically part two really hit me that night. I don't know. I think it was around that time I turned on my flashing scrunchie that if you know I like to wear on my wrist that lights up. And I think it was around that time I turned it on and I was dancing and it just it was a really good vibe for Seeker's on the Ridge. So I've been listening to that song a lot more lately since the show too. Yeah. That part two is always gets me so good. It's so good. All right. Last question. Was there a special moment or experience you had this night? Like, how about you? Anything special that happened? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Some special things happened that night. It was really nice just to give back to the community that night and some things were some things were happening and I'm not the one to like try and tell like what I've done or anything but had some moments to where I was able to give back to the community. And those are always special things to see those smiles that brighten those faces. Yes, I love it. For me, if y'all don't know, I'm a full-ath evangelist and I even have it in my bio on Twitter literally says that evangelist. I'm very, very committed to that. And so I love on the end, set one. They've been doing it quite a bit and in set one. And shout out to my friend Michael, friend of the show who literally texts me. He goes, girl, you know, you've been in the room for eight of nine thatches that they've ever played. And I was like, word? So apparently I'm also a thatch conjurer, so which is amazing for me. But when they started it, everybody on the rail was like, let's play. And that was really special just like that they all noted that they knew I was about to get my whole life and just like, I go to a whole, there's like this level and then there's that level for me. And I just go completely wild upfront and take my personal raging to the next level. So that was, I always love when I get to do it. And it was really awesome. And shout out to Lucas who is next to me raging even harder than I was per usual. Hannah, how about you? Any special moments in the show? I mean, it was Tyler's birthday and y'all manifested a set list for him. So really the whole night and my sister was there. So really the whole night was just magical and special for me just for those reasons alone. Love it. Chelsea. Yeah. So I was, you know, doing my own thing this night, but I did make a couple of friends shout out to Mary and Meg and we danced together. And I think it was a set break that Mary and I realized we each have a bird tattoo on our shoulder right here in the same spot. And we were like, weird. We're like marrying each other. So it was kind of just like a fun special moment. Then they played Red Bird. So it all came together. So that was fun. That was fun. That was annoying too. That's lovely. Right. Yeah. That was a fun time. Love it. All right. We're going to get into another interview from the show and we're going to hear from Jessica. Let's see what she's just saying. Yeah, just a couple questions for you. They're easy. No, no, nothing. They're easy. No tricky questions. How did you discover Goose? My husband. I've been getting so much of that. I love it. Mine too. How would you describe Goose's sound to someone who's never heard them? Oh my. That's rubbish. Face melting jams. Yeah, I love it. What's your favorite thing about Goose's music? If anyone asks if I have my favorite song, there's no way I can pick because they're all great. Smart. I love it. What's your favorite thing about the Goose community? Oh. The people. Literally. I was just talking to my husband how great everyone is and how many people we've made. Yeah. Love that. Uh huh. What, in your opinion, is the most underrated Goose song? Oh. Peace. That's hard. I know it's a hard one. We can skip it if you like. It's not underrated. I may say not born only because there's two versions or atlas dogs only because I love the OG and some people like. I don't know. I don't know. I'm not atlas puppies. Okay. Okay. And I got my OG last night. Yes, he did. He's lovely. Really good show. Um, okay. What's your favorite thing about the way that Goose's music brings people together? The community and the people and everyone you meet and everyone's your friend. Yes. We're all family. All right. Last question. It's a little bit of a silly one. But are you aware of any Goose-related conspiracy theories? Uh, no. No, no conspiracy theories. Okay. Last thing, just say your name and where you're from. Jessica like bold and I'm from Fargo, North Carolina. Awesome. Thanks Jessica for joining us. I'm going to play Sherry as well right now and then we'll discuss both of them after. Here we go. Here's Sherry's commentary. How did you discover Goose? Um, during the pandemic, I started watching them when they were like playing. I believe it was at someone's house. And I was like, okay, I can get into this. Love it. Yeah. Um, how would you describe Goose's sound to someone who's never heard them before? Um, very inspiring, energetic, uplifting, positive, excellent. Um, please, go to the show's lab. Oh, my husband's. Thank you. Uh, what's your favorite thing about the Goose community? Um, that there is actually a community. You see a lot of the same people on the show. Everyone, there is a sense of community. Everyone's caring. It's just very, um, inclusive. Mmm, love it. Uh, what is the most underrated Goose song in your opinion? Oh, under it. Under it. Mmm, that one's hard. Um, I don't know. I think... Oh, you got me stumped there. That's okay. We can move on. No pressure. Yeah, I don't know. No pressure at all. I don't think I need something right now. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. I love them all. So I don't know. You're just not right now. I mean, that's not really underrated. That's what I'm saying. I love, you know, the role rangers. Um, what's your favorite thing about live music experiences in general? Like, what keeps you coming back? Not just to do this, but... Uh, that's what keeps me alive, actually. Uh, I love this. Um, is the interaction, uh, it's a feeling that I can't get anywhere else. And it actually does keep me going in my real life. Um, my job's very stressful. And I think that this is my outlet. And it's one place where I can just kind of let go. Yeah. And I actually don't have to think about anything. I'm not responsible for anything. And I could just actually enjoy myself. Oh, you're so cool. Yes! I love it. Okay. Last question. Are you aware of any goose related conspiracy theories? No. No. Okay. I don't have time. That's okay. That's okay. Do you just say your name and where you're from to finish out? Um, Sherry Bruno, currently in St. Louis, but from Philadelphia. Awesome. Oh my gosh. Two good ones. Um, all right. Thoughts on those commentaries from Jessica and from Sherry? Just shout out to husbands who are showing their wives goose and bringing them to goose shows. Um, because we heard several people say that. And so I appreciate that women are coming along to shows and enjoying it just as much. Yeah. I love that she said, uh, one of them was, I think it was a really good thing to say. Um, music community hat at musical band has an actual community around them and just acknowledging the existence of it is really critical, especially right now as, as goose is continuing to become more popular. What about you, Hannah? I think Leslie, you said recently when we were all talking about how everyone would always say the Grateful Dead was doing their own thing. You know, there was all these other bands and then there was what the Grateful Dead was doing. And in a lot of ways, whether fish fans are willing to admit it or not, they just kind of inherited that because they were at the right place at the right time and they inherited the good bad and the ugly of the scene. Um, they didn't really have, and I would say it's unfortunate they didn't really have this space in the time to develop their own scene. And so, uh, with goose, that's what goose is doing. Um, it's not even what the Grateful Dead was doing, right? Just in general, goose has their own scene, their own community. And so there's what all these other bands are doing and there's what goose is doing. And so I think, you know, that's part of that community piece that they were talking about. And, um, and I don't, I'll just give a little teaser to some of the interviews that you're going to premiere on our upcoming episode, but people were talking about how, oh, like, I discovered goose because I was going to X band show, but goose, and goose was one of the other bands playing. They were opening and we started listening to them in preparation for the show and we ended up going to see goose because goose is doing their own thing. And to be fair, the other bands that people are talking about, I like those bands too. I see those bands too. You know what I mean? But goose is truly doing their own thing and it extends out into the fandom and the community that has built up around these guys. I love that. Sorry. We have a little bit behind the scenes. I like to say any thoughts on Jessica and, um, and here we have Michelle. Well, the community with her talking about like the, I was like, yeah, you know, talking about the community because it was so funny. The first time I ever got to talk to Rick was actually at the Louisville show last year. And, um, like I really, really got to talk to him. And I, uh, and I said to him the whole time, like, you know, I'm not saying, oh, the music is wonderful. It's so awesome. I'm like talking about how amazing the community is and how that is. You know, a big part of why I keep coming back and what, and that's what drew me to, you know, drew me more. I was like, not that the music isn't amazing because the music is what sold me on coming, but the community and the family and the, you know, everyone's not up in your stuff. But if you need someone, you can talk to someone. You can reach out to someone and you're going to have someone right there for you. And that is the, that is the most comforting feeling in the entire world, you know, and, um, it's, it's just super comforting and I, and everyone going through a lot. And so I completely agree on the community and how beautiful that it is. And it just, it means everything. It truly does and how you go to other concerts and you don't see communities like that. And, and my friends, they'll be surprised. They're just like, this is, you know, people ask you, like, these are like, you're really good friends. Really? And how did you meet them? How many times have you seen them? And it's like, no, these are, these are really, really good friends. Like, and it's so awesome how that you can go anywhere in the country and you have somewhere, you know, somewhere to stay and a friend. Yeah, you're never alone. I completely agree with that. I would be true. Speak. That's a great segue because, um, speaking of someone that's always there for me at shows, we have a special guest that is joining us at Lucas Anderson is here. Bye. How are you guys? I'm excited to see you. I'm excited to see you all. I'm excited to be on here. Yeah. I didn't know you had a home. I thought it was usually in line. Actually, I should be on a flight to Seattle right now, but things adjusted and I'm not today. So I'm at my parents house today. Excellent. But will you be at the warfield? I think so. I think that's what we're talking about. Yeah. Lucas and I were texting yesterday. He's like, um, I think I might be going to the West Coast and I was like, oh man, I wish I could go to San Francisco and like by the end of our little conversation, we both had talked to each other and going to San Francisco. So, um, we're, we're the best influence and the worst influence on each other. But, um, and Leslie's telling me the other day because I got like, I was supposed to be on break and everything and not going. And one of my friends was like, Hey, you know, I'm going. I have extra hotel room and some tickets. And I was like, that sounds really enticing and like, she says, Leslie's like, no, like, you can't do it. You can't do it. And so then last night when I get a text from her and she's like, I think I'm going to warfield. I was like, Oh, yeah, here we, we all win. Here comes Lucas. It's like that. Well, Lucas, we, everybody who's watching, if you have been to a goo show, uh, any number of goo shows you recognize Lucas's face and his amazing dancing ability up on the rail. If you're watching on a couch, you probably recognize him as well. We're so happy to have you here. Uh, Lucas, how was the Chicago run for you? I was lucky enough to get to dance with you both shows, which was really important. Um, I know every show special, but what, what made this all set said shows stand out for you? What was special about that for you? Um, there were a lot of things that were special about it. Like I, it almost like teleported me back to like when I first started seeing Goose because when I first started seeing Goose, it was like, I didn't really have like friend groups. I was just sort of going to shows and like a friend would join me here and like I started getting to know people. And a lot of the people I normally travel with couldn't come to this show. Uh, and so like it kind of teleported me back to like old goose days. Like I was beating so many more people because like I didn't just have my friend group there. And, um, the venue was awesome and I loved tonight, Ron. It's like, you guys were talking earlier about what, whether it feels like a two piece or just two separate shows in the same place. And I was like, I think that this band just gets so comfortable in places that they get to stay overnight and get to do it again. Um, so yeah, it was one of my favorite runs ever. Yeah, I think just for a tech, from a technical standpoint, it's nice for them to not have to set up the day of the second show. And it's a huge difference in how much rest they get, the crew in particular. So I think that runs are so amazing because of that. So one thing you and I, because we also did a Madison together up in the rail, we were talking about was so many first timers on this second half of the spring tour. I mean, we've been seeing first timers a lot, but I don't know about you. I've just been like so many people. I just say, Hey, how are you? And they're like, this is my first time. I'm so excited. And so many people that were like, I finally am getting to see them live, you know, kind of vibe. They've been wanting to want to. They've already delved deep into YouTube, deep into bandcamp, deep into nugs. And they're finally getting to experience it in real time. Um, I think my kink might be seeing people's faces their first time at set. Like that's literally like really gets me going. Such a mixture of like amazement and joy and shock all going on at once. Um, so I'm curious, Lucas, since you go to so many shows, and you get to see so many folks first times, what are some things you think is important for people to like know about how the communities, goose community shows up for each other and how critical community care is for all of us. I would love to hear your thoughts on that and let people hear from. And ask one real quick question. How many shows have you been to? Oh, yeah. Lucas, how many? I want to say it's 62. Oh, yeah. I'm like, how many, I remember my favorite show ever happened to be my 50th show. And maybe it's because I went into it like with a super positive bias, but it was Saturday at the cap. Um, but I get a lot of confirmation bias because like everyone says it was one of the best goose shows, which makes it really good. So I've been like counting from if that's 50, trying to count from there. So 62. Um, yeah. Um, yeah. Leslie, like I think that's such an important part. Um, people come, you guys talk about it all the time. And I think everyone the goose community does. And I think it's like, you walk in with like one friend to a show that you're going to the show with and you'll be with like 300 friends. And the next morning you're like looking through your phone and like you have all these new followers and you have these new people that you just texted your name to, to just swap names. And you're like trying to piece together. Wow. Who are all these people I met last night? And like, I think that is the very best part of goose is like, how quickly we just wrap our arms around people and just like embrace them. And especially people who it's like their first show, especially if they're solo at a show. Yeah. It's like, oh, don't worry. We've got you tonight. Like we'll be looking out for you. So yeah, I think that's, that's the best part of the band and community. Uh, it's so true. Um, yeah. And I said this, you'll guys, well, everybody will hear this, but I was just, this is my first solo run that I had done without Drew. And so it felt really special. Y'all were just looking, taking such good care of me, looking out for me, making sure that I was good. And it felt really amazing through the Madison and both Chicago and Chicago show runs. I was just like, oh, I don't feel alone at all. It was definitely different. But I was like, oh, I'm not by myself. And you just kept reminding me like you're never alone at a goose shell. No matter what, you've always got people there that are looking out for you and thinking about you. Um, and just taking care of each other, generally speaking. Um, well, while you're here, we're going to jump into night two, if you want to stick around and talk about it. That's awesome. Fantastic. So our first question we always ask is where were you in the house? Look, is where were you? So Alexis can confirm I was not on the rail at the beginning of the show. I can't confirm that. Yeah. Uh, I, I did California magic on the rail, which like, I love California magic. I remember being at the first one and hearing it sound checked at nine thirty club. I was next to Lisa governor who I know is super involved in goose shakes. Um, and her and I were like, Rick is singing about Jesus right now. Like what cover is this? Um, and they ended up being a new original and like, um, and, uh, so I stayed up there for California magic and then I actually, I had heard the night before that there's a G.A. section behind the grandstands up on like the third floor with couches and a bar and sometimes I just like, I love that view. And so I went, I ran as far back as I possibly could and got up there for the whole first set. I said to you Leslie as I left. I was like, I swear I'll be back. I'm not sure. I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just looking out for a while. Yeah, definitely. It was awesome. Very, very cool. It was really cool. We were talking about it because the first time I felt like I was taken up into space, you know, with the lights because we, you know, we always do the rail and so radio city music hall was the first time that I had not been on rail for a good show. And so I was just like, I don't know how I'm going to feel about the work that I had done with the show. And then I was like, oh, I'm going to be back and I was able to enjoy Getty's entire, entire light show. And through part of it, I was like, oh my gosh, I'm being taken up into a spaceship. This is insane. And so when you're, when you're at the back of the house, I felt that again, like through part of it. I was like, all these lights make me feel like I'm being taken up into a spaceship. So it's really cool to definitely try and mix it up. And, you know, showing everyone you can do rail, you can do back. And I wouldn't suggest metal because it gets really hot. But if you could get to the side, you know, and, and if you're in the middle, take a lot of water with you because it's really, really hot. Pete even says it. Hydrate everybody. Where were you this night? Travel side again for a night, too? Yeah, I went the same spot again. But I am kind of regretting not hanging back and seeing more of the lights because that is one thing that I'm kind of missing from the rail. Obviously, you see the lights up there, but it's totally different. It's not like how Getty sees it. So I am kind of regretting that. But y'all, Trevor, he was dancing. He was like straight up dancing. I had to take a video of that. Not just, you know, like, little dancing was happening. Yeah. So I was like really in tune to that. Like we were vibing out me and him. We were both dancing. And so I was really focused on Trevor and being right there with him. Oh, I think he was focused on you too, Chelsea. I'm just saying. I saw him look in your direction. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I'll have to find out. No, but if you look back, I don't know. But back when I first started watching Gooshews and stuff, Trevor legit didn't even bob his head. Like he would not. He was so stone face and just like he would be playing and jamming. But he would not even like bob his head or like. So to see him up there, like dancing full body, like dancing, it just to me, it felt like he felt so comfortable finally. Like he was able to just like let loose and really feel the music and vibe out. And so that felt special to me in that way that he's feeling more comfortable with all of us too. It's been fun watching him especially all of them, but especially Trevor posted the to boost tour. Like I feel like it really opened up something new for each of them performance wise and Trevor's a great example of like much more movement on stage. Even Rick, I was noticing because I was coming home and then watching the show over because then I can see the lights and I was noticing that the tight shot of Rick, it's harder for the videographer to get it because he's moving way more. So they'll think they're tight on him and then it's like he's gone because he's moved and he's you know, dancing around. Hannah, where were you, Night Tube? We started in the same area, but we had some chomping issues. I legit, I talk a lot. I've never seen someone be able to talk so much at a show. We learned a lot about this woman's life and she wanted to go to a concert and meet another couple. She met the couple. She's recently engaged. My buddy Ian also has like a full report because they were so distracting and so Ian gave me permission to share this. He's like the sweetest kind of human. Okay? And I made him switch me places. And then he got so distracted. He actually went up and politely asked if they would please stop and or just be a little quieter and they got kind of upset at us. And so we ended up having to leave and we went on the other side. We went to Peter's side, which I hadn't been on Peter's side in a while and it was, I discovered a new trick. So we went during separate to the other side and we were trying to carve out space because some of our friends were outside smoking cigarettes and stuff. And so I started like very obviously picking up trash, which is funny because I'm with my trash group and I was picking up like two pieces at a time and then putting them in the recycling because we were pretty close to the recycling area and going back and forth. And people saw me doing that and they had a lot of respect for it. So they actually gave us that space that I had cleaned up and did it in French on us and then our friends came and we still had room to dance and everything. So yeah, that was our Saturday. Love it. Love it. Love it. Okay. Lucas, Jam of the Night Night 2 for you. What was the standout? I would put pancakes up there as one of the jams of the entire year and like Night 2 set two, I would put there as one of the best sets of the year. It was the Danciest Goose that I've ever been a part of. They like had the place 726 so that the whole room didn't pass out. Because I've been called to V to entertain a friend. We need to do that. I mean, if you just look at the set list, like those were the Danciest Goose songs that they have and we got all of them. Exactly. Pancakes though. Pancakes was a raider. Pancakes killed it. I mean, I just, you know, pancakes at first when it came out, I wasn't the biggest fan of, but then the jams that they put in that thing, like whoo, it was pancakes as fire. So animal and to a pancake, you know, fire pancakes, we definitely had to get that 726 to slow down and then that fill it now. Like whoo. Now that fill it now, y'all is ready. I will put it is ready, like ready for a club, ready to go on, like, you know, just like, oh, it's so dancey. I love it. And then I'm a huge fan of slow ready. Yes. You know, and getting that like a lot of people are like, oh, I want so ready. I want so ready. It's so much danceier. To me, slow ready. Like when they, you know, when Peter hits that button and it's do, do, do, do, do, do, oh, that's just, I just get goosebumps just like just thinking of that. Yeah. So, and then into drip field. Yeah. Yes. It was angry with you Lucas. That set was fire. It was awesome. Y'all are saying it was dancey, but it was also very sexy. It was so sexy. Damn. This is the sex. I can't tell my friend. Well, this is the sexiest playlist or like set list I've ever seen. So I just have to say that. And I would say drive because I literally had to leave where I was to go to like the hallway area where everyone's like sitting past out because I could not complain. My dancing and me and my girl Miranda just like went in the back and we got down. We need to get in the room for sure. So I have to go with drive as my favorite, but then also the echo sandwich was. Yeah. The echo sandwich was pretty special. Chelsea, how about you? Feel now. I've been waiting since I was there at the cap when they played it first time, but I feel like you don't fully appreciate it the first time. So I've been waiting for my feel it now. And so I was very happy for them to play that song is just so good. I think Leslie said in the car the next day she was just like, they need to be playing that in the club. Like everybody will be getting down. And I'm like, yeah, they do. So it's so fun and dancing. That's where that came from Leslie because it is ready. It's just that song is just a really special song. I think that Peter wrote and it's different than his other songs that he typically writes. The lyrics are so beautiful, but it just has such a like upbeat, just happy vibe. And so feel it now was the shit. Yeah. Go ahead. I keep saying that like feel it now is like the number one goose song that I don't want to be on the rail for. I want to be in the thick of the chaos behind me. Like it totally is a club song. And I just want to be surrounded by humans on all side of the disco party. Yeah. Yeah. I low key, you know, we covered pancakes on the show like, I don't know, five or six episodes ago. And when we were planning the show, we were like, oh, there's not much to say about pancakes. We don't know. It was our parent episode actually, Gees and their goslings and because it tied into the interview. But I feel like Goose has been trolling us because literally ever since we said that on that show, they've been. They keep playing the most amazing pancakes. And so I was like, I'll never say a bad thing about pancakes. You've done it, Goose. It's done pancakes is in the pantheon for me now. And I absolutely adore it. I have to give another shout out lead up. That song is so amazing, so brilliant. And I feel it's the one from the cap that has evolved the most since the first time played. And so this this time hearing it, this time it hit me close. This time it hit me totally differently. And I just love that they continue to tweak their songs and continue to play with them, to continue to be experimental with them. And then shout out to Sam because she came down and was on the route with us set two with Lucas and I. And when she came down, the first thing I said to her was like, wow, that set, the first set was like the perfect roller coaster ride. Like it was paced perfectly. And I felt like this whole show is that way. It really allowed the right amount of dancing, the right amount of, you know, downtime to like for us to catch our breath and breathe the right amount of emotion. It was just the perfect vehicle to get into and start with California magic and end with the Madivon jam. So for me, night two is just super stellar. I have a feeling I'll be looking back on the shows this year. And this will continue to be a standout highlight. But lead up for me was really special and really amazing. And then I always love a white lights encore. I don't know it does something for me. So I always love when they play white lights as an encore. I think the first one I got was that the joy. And I just remember being like, oh my gosh, it's a perfect way to end and I just like perfect uplifted space and just feeling really energized and everything. Yeah, I always try and do the white lights dance. I don't know if y'all are familiar with the white lights dance. I wasn't aware of this. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. There's a little choreographed dance. Oh, I learned this. Yeah. And you know, like, I saw you in a dream last night and you're floating away, then you got to pull back in. Oh, yeah. See, Lucas knows I was trying to do the dance where they play it. Leslie Owen and I were trying to do it on the rail right next to you. Owen knew it way better than I did. Following his lead. You were like, I'll leave you. He knew it all. All right, well, I'm learning. I love choreo, so I'm definitely in the minute. I'm in it. I'm in it. Really quick. I have to go back to lead up. You call yourself a thatchavangelist. I am a lead up evangelist. Chelsea, I think either you or Hannah said, like, the first time Goose debuts something, I think you're just sort of like almost just like observing and like taking it all in, but you don't really appreciate it. So you get that reliss. And lead up was the first time ever with Goose, where I was just like every note on that debut. I was like, this is like, this could be like a classic rock song for like the rest of eternity. I have a joke around on Twitter yesterday that I have a new playlist on Nugs and it's called lead up is the best Goose song ever. Yeah, it's all the lead ups. It's just all lead ups. And I just listened to them on repeat and they are all so good and that's where I was back behind the grandstands. And so there's so much space and like a lot of the Goose Twitter crew was back there and they can attest that like I was just losing my mind and all the open space listening to that lead up. I mean, it is by far like my favorite Goose song. It's so good. All the songs that debuted at the Capra Amazing, but I will say like between feel and I'll lead up, but we just were really treated to something special. Hopefully they'll make it onto the new album. Because I'd love to hear the studio version of both of them. And I also think we can hear both of them on the radio like so easy, but lead up is like a strong like single in and of itself. And they're just getting better and better at it. It's really something super special. So I'm with you on that. All right. Third question, when were you most moved during the set? I'll start with Hannah and then we'll go to Lucas. Oh gosh. I think I don't remember what the song was. But it was the second set and all my friends, we all got back together in the same area. And so just like having that moment of like, we're on the same place at the same time enjoying this music dressed up like cats. And so yeah, that was probably the most magical experience for me. Gosh. But I will say hearing, you know, having Lucas on the show, which is such a treat is like getting me really excited about possibly writing the rail, which I've never done. Like you will see me. It's to the point now where people recognize me because before the show starts, I'll go up to see my friends on the rail. And I'm like, I'm not saying, I'm not saying like people know me as a girl who's trying to get through who says she's not going to stay. So I'm just like, one of these days I am going to, and I think I wanted to maybe be Columbus because of a hometown show for me. But gosh, you guys make it sound so fun. And also the breathing room and space to dances. It's nice. I can't lie. Definitely. It's a plus for sure. Lucas, how about you? Where were you most moved during this particular show? 726 was just such an opportunity to just like, I, to just like reflect on the run we had had. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. And I was like, I'm not going to be a fan of it. But it'll be awesome. But drip filled that night, like drip filled for me is right now. It's like a special song from night two and, you know, losing my sister and stuff and just like all the problems that you have to go through. And just life is hard. You just feel like water is just crashing on you. Like you just feel like at times like, you're just like, can I take a breath? Can I just get a breath above the water? You know, so that, you know, that was a special song for me that night just to be able to try and take a breath. And then I was going to take a breath and not go on goose tour. But then that all just changed. Plants changed. And now, you know, in less than a week, we will be out in California. So, that was it. Yeah. One thing Lucas and I say all the time to each other is that everything sucks except for goose. So we always are saying that we work in a lot of the same circles and we're always like just conversing about the world generally. And so that's something we always are like, everything sucks except for goose. And so yeah, it's easy to get talked into going to more shows. It's the only way that doesn't suck. And you want to be around things that are not terrible right now. It's really hard out in the world. Lucas will end with you. Any special moment or experience you have that night that you want is a high. Slow ready is just always special for me. Like I was on my first solo like run of goose in Atlanta 2021. And I remember like hitting the guy next to me, this kid who seemed to know everything about goose and being like, what song was that? Like I need to know what song that was. And that was like the moment I was sold on goose was during like the disco jam in slow ready. And Peter like broke me out of my shell and goose shows. I was always a Peter rail guy. And like watching him dance during slow ready is like why I started dancing at shows. And his dancing has just like become nuts during slow ready. Like I don't know how he doesn't need a break after it. And in Chicago especially like he was losing his mind dancing to it. So that was a special moment for me. Yeah slow ready is always a great entry song for folks as well. I often will send them the album version and I had some friends over a couple weeks ago. I was just playing some some goose songs and slow ready came on and she goes, who the hell is this? I'm like, it's still goose. And she's posted on on Facebook and like on Twitter. She's like, I can't stop listening to this song. It's so so good. So yeah, that that's really amazing. Real quick, real quick. I want to shout out to Sarah and Jason who were on our parenting episode a few weeks back. And they were in Chicago night too with me as well. So they got their pancakes which we discussed on the show is special to their family. And so that was a fun time dancing with them to pancakes. And they are two of my favorite people. They're such good humans. So I would be a miss if I didn't mention that they were with me night too. So that's amazing. Love it, love it. All right. You're going to stick around to the end of the show. We've just had a couple of videos to play Lucas. We love to get your thoughts on them. If you're sure. All right. You guys will keep me. Go ahead. I'll do a shout out. It's a misconnections actually. So I mentioned that we had to switch sides. Well, there was this really adorable man. He's a little bit shorter. He had a tie-dye on. He had a fanny pack on the way. I do like on his shoulder and he was playing air base on his fanny pack. And we loved him so, so much. And one of the reasons we almost didn't move, even though our vibes were not great, is because we like wanted to be his friend and I gave him a sticker. So if you're listening, I don't know your name. It was like when you're, you hadn't been to Gu Show in a really long time. I think you haven't been to a whole lot. We love you and we're sorry we had to leave you. And please try and get in touch with us with me and my crew. Good. Good shout outs. I love misconnections. Maybe we need to start a segment of the show. Yes. People can call us and tell us about them. All right. We're going to hear from Michelle real quick and see what she has. It's only, okay. What do you want from me? How excited? No, I just want you to answer the question. Be myself. Very, very excited. Okay, you got it. How did you discover Goose? Oh, my partner turned me on to Goose because we're big J&B fans and, yep, we jumped out on the wagon as soon as we heard them. What other J&B fans do you like? We love panic, lettuce, J-rad. J-rad. Put a lot of J-rad. Yeah, J-rad. J-d-g-c-o. See you later. Awesome. Oh, Teal's going on tour. I just got tickets in Charlotte. There's a Teal and friends tour. They just announced like a couple of things. We just bought some in Asheville. Charlotte. I live in Charlotte. Yeah. Oh, I want to do an Asheville. My husband's like, they're playing here. I was like, oh, yeah, I never mind. We're going here a little bit. I do love Asheville. That was so great out there. We're going to go see Jen Hartz makes fan there. And hey, I think she's playing. Nice. That was a non-sacratory. Okay. That's okay. I'm going to do a little bit of whatever you want. What's your favorite thing about Goose's music? Rick playing the guitar, Peter on the keys. I mean, I love them all. Yes. I have to say, I do like those two. So listen to their interactions together. Yeah. Fantastic. It's very special. How would you describe Goose's sound to someone who's never heard them before? I'd say if widespread panic and we said it before, someone has a baby, it would be that band. You're going to have to redo that one. Because we do say all the time. See, I don't think you say it. Panic and fish. Panic, I don't know. It's like the baby of all the jam bands. It's like they're taken from all of these genres. Yeah, from all the different bands that we love. And you can hear a little riffs from all the different bands. Little pieces. I say, oh, this is their fishiest song. I'll say, I don't know how all the time, oh, this is their fishiest song to me. Or I'll say different. How many times do you pick your title? Last night we said, we're here trying to cat. And then you said, I think that's feeling like a show. And I'm like, no. I was like, I'm hearing the lead up to Franklin's Tower from the dead. Yeah, so. They like to tease a lot of stuff in there. What's the most underrated goose song in your opinion? Underrated. I'm not sure, but my favorite by far is Madivon. They can play that at every show and I would be a happy woman. Which theory? Mmm, okay. Until the time. What's your favorite thing about the way goose's music brings people together? What is my favorite thing about the way they bring it? Well, just, I mean, for starters, it's the only shows in the last 30 years where the artists actually come out on the sidewalk and greet us and we can thank them in advance personally before the show starts. So that's one huge way to bring everyone together. Plus, of course, their music is awesome. So dancing and jamming with the same crowd at each show is great. Rebirth of the community. What's that? Oh, sure. Of our former Grateful Dead High High High High. Shakedown Street community. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love that. It's great. Grateful, like, the 30-something. It's like that. It's like 50-something. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And that we can teach you in it. Yeah. Absolutely. Okay. That's the last question. Your name and where you're from. You can just use best. Okay. Michelle from Asheville. Awesome. Thank you. So many gems in that. Another North Carolinian. I love this. This is something I've been noticing. So at the two ends of the spectrum are people, most of the first time I've been meeting is families and younger folks who are discovering goose and I'm talking, like, from 13 and 15, you know, and with their families often. And then the other is deadheads who never really got into fish or any other music as deeply as they did with the dead, but they feel that same feeling when they go to goose shows. And so it's sort of amazing because what I've noticed is so many intergenerational conversations that are really hard to find spaces to have in the real world or in the rest of the world. But at goose shows, it just seems to work, like 50-year-olds and 30-year-olds and 20-year-olds, all can experience together and talk to each other and have really great conversations, and really navigate conflict that happens in real time. So yeah, I love just that aspect that they were lifting up, that this feels to them like a homecoming as deadheads. I'm curious, Lucas, what do you think about what Michelle had to say? I actually met Michelle and her partner, whose name I'm drawing a blank on at the Sylvie, and they were right behind me. And Michelle and I did a lot of rail swapping so she could be up on the rail. And they're appreciation, like, for music and for community and music. I really adored. He kind of took everyone under his wing that night and was looking out for us all, because if you remember, the Sylvie floor was packed. It was really empty there, for sure. When people were coming and flying up, trying to get up there, he was very much just like, hey, hold on, there's some people up here that's very respectful of them. But yeah, I love that couple, they were super awesome. And I love that cohort of people who never quite got into fish or widespread, and they're like, oh my God, I'm alive again. Like, I haven't felt this since the dead. Really appreciate those people. Mm-hmm. Chelsea, Alexia, Hannah, any thoughts on Michelle's commentary? What do you think? I completely, you know, like, fish was never my thing. And it was because, you know, it was a lot of frat boys that were trying to get me into it and stuff. And it just never was my thing. So, but Grateful Dead was always my thing. And the crowd at Grateful Dead just so welcoming, so amazing. And that was just always the generation that I felt was always kinder. And so the goose community to me, like, when I went to dead shows first, when we started going to goose shows, that's the same feeling that I got. I was like, oh, this is awesome. Everyone's loving. Everyone's kind. So, so I completely agree. I'm not that age, you know, but I agree with what I've seen at my age. Yeah. Chelsea, anything from you? You know, for me, like, this is my first time in the jam band scene, or like, I've never really gotten into any other jam bands or even been to, like, shows really. So, it's interesting to me to hear other people make those comparisons because to me, like, goose is so different on zone. That's why it's the first kind of jam band that I've ever been into. But also, I will add Sarah, my friend who I just mentioned earlier, had told me to watch the Grateful Dead movie, which I'm not sure if you guys have seen, but if you haven't, you should watch it. And it's basically just a documentary on Grateful Dead, like, four night run somewhere or something like that. And she's like, this really inspired me to how I take on, like, goose shows in the goose community. And I watched it when I got back, I watched it the other night. And it is kind of amazing how similar the scene is from the 70s, just in the way of, like, the people coming to the shows for a spiritual experience or the way the community gathers together and certain things that you can see is still alive in goose shows. And I think the good things about the dead scene, hopefully, are the things that we're seeing now in goose, however many years later. And so I find that interesting, especially coming from people that may have been in the dead scene to kind of validate that as well. But that's something I'm definitely trying to learn more about too, as I continue going to goose shows. So love it, love it. Any last thoughts about Michelle's coming here? I guess I just think about this a lot with my research and my dad having been to so many very full dead shows, but then not ever super getting into fish and knowing my family is super into fish. But I have a true confession. So we were in Chicago with fish heads and everyone had left to kind of do their own thing, like go to museums, I had to meet up with family, dah, dah, dah, dah, whatever. And we'll have left on a fish show. So I get back first and I buy myself and I listen to it of my own accord. And then later that night at the Saturday show, I don't remember what song it was now, but I looked over at Will and I go, I'm starting to watch Rick and understand where he's drawing upon Trey for inspiration, just with his mannerisms and his stage presence and the way he's playing. And then Will looked over at Rick and was like, yeah, I see what you mean on this particular song. And then we all said a moment earlier where he was saying how California magic really gives some dead vibes and stuff like that. And so just being able to have those generational conversations. And then we talked about this on the last recording we just said, but Lucas, shout out to you and all your friends because young people are awesome. I teach young people for a living that are your age and people like to try and talk shit to me about like, oh, y'all, that generation is too young and they're not nice to each other or they don't understand politics or they don't understand social issues. And I'm a bear that shit out of your generation because I'm just like, hell no dude. These kids are thinking so outside the box, y'all are going to change the world. I have Matt faith in you. And so then seeing that translate into the goose scene where people like you and your friends are taking care of people, I just in what like an awe of how awesome your generation is. And I think like I have a lot of mentors who are in their 50s and 60s and 70s and they'll say like, I need a 20 or 30 year old to be my mentor because I need to know how to like not be a proch the old person. Basically, you know what I mean? Like I want to see the world from a young person's perspective and get that perspective. And so I just think it's important to surround yourself with people who are 10 years younger than you, 15 years younger than you and also 10, 20 years older than you because we want to like, I want to know the world from your perspective. I get you know what I mean? Like I want to see everything and yeah, I don't know. Go everywhere and feel everything. Yeah. There's always a goose lyric set to save the day to come in and wrap things up for sure. Is there a goose is there a goose lyric to come in and say on the younger generation, make it to register to vote and we need your votes out there to change the world. Yeah. You know, everyone, everyone. Look at that sector. So please and also, you know, Shod, do Peter for having his yo vote sticker on his race. Yes. Yes. It's so important. Like, I need to see that. So yeah. Leslie, you do a lot of work right, like trying to get people to register to vote. I do a lot of work doing that. Lucas, you do a lot. I do. You know, it's very, you see, it's very important for all of us and I try and tell people, you know, if you want a change in what's happening, then your voice, like go out and vote. That's your voice of how you can do it. Sorry. Sorry to go there. I just love it. Let's get on that soapbox. You'll probably hear it a lot from us, especially if you leave it in 2024. We've got one last video to share. I want to thank all of the folks that we play today. Michelle, Jessica, Sherry, Rachel, shout out to you, especially out in Louisville. We love you. And here's Sydney's commentary. So let's listen. All right. So our first question is, how did you discover a goose? Good question. Let's see if I remember that. I think it was during the pandemic. I remember a lot of bands were doing like virtual concerts. It was one of those where it was a bunch of different bands. Doing virtual stuff. They were saving from their homes and everything. And they were. They did that. They were really good during that season. What's your favorite thing about Goose's music? I think just the kind of vibe it creates. People fix everybody happy. Everybody's still. It's true. It's exciting. It is. How would you describe Goose's sound to someone who's never heard them? Well, I did hear you say indie groove earlier, and that is actually exactly how I described them. I feel like that's how like when you see them described in like an article or something. Yeah, they'll say that. They're like an indie groove band. Indie groove sensation or whatever. It is. I mean, but they're also kind of much more. Expansed than that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's like an entry point. They seem to be even getting more and more. How do you even really describe it? But you did say groovy. Yeah, the groove is important. It is. And I think Peter's edition is what brought like the full groove to the band. If you listened to like earlier stuff. I think that yeah, that's like a big thing that he brought to the band. Who do you usually go to Goose shows with? My boyfriend. I was with me. We love to come to the show to love the wait in life. Yes, I love it. What's the most underrated Goose song in your opinion? Underrated. That's a good question. Honestly, I feel like Elizabeth doesn't get high-fettitive. I feel that. I just posted that on my story the other day. Oh really? Elizabeth? I was feeling. I was feeling Elizabeth. I loved it. Yeah. What's your favorite thing about the way Goose's music brings people together? I don't know. I think it brings a very inviting spirit to everybody. Kind of. Sure as the character. Sure as the character. Yeah. Okay, last question. What's your favorite Goose related conspiracy theory if you have one or have heard one? Yeah, I don't think I have any. You haven't? Okay, if we find any, I'll tell you. Yeah, well we don't know. It's your name and where you're from. My name is Sydney and I am from Chicago. Awesome. I wanted to end with a hometown commentary and you can hear Chelsea there doing that interview with me. We were in line and I was just going up and done the line talking to folks on night one. So that was really fun to do. Any thoughts around Sydney's commentary and what she had to say about Goose? I think it's awesome what she had to say about Goose. But Chelsea, what was the conspiracy theory? Oh, we heard in line. But we're waiting. We're waiting in line. For the bathroom theory that that guy had. Um, I don't remember what the what that guy said, but I will share a conspiracy theory. I can't, I can't take full credit. This is a collab between me and Nikki on this one. But, uh, so our conspiracy theory is that the reason Goose always goes on late is because Rick wants to come straight out of the shower onto the stage and they have to wait for him to take his shower. And this is evident by, if you notice his hair is always wet when he comes out. That's a point one. And then so Nikki had told me this. And then when we were in Nola, um, waiting in line to get into the show, I literally watched Rick come out of the back of the venue, hop offense and run across the street to their hotel where they were staying. And it was like, I mean, it was doors. So it was like right before the show was supposed to start. And I was like, he's going to take a shower. I know him. Um, so that's our, our fun little conspiracy theory. So you might pick up more evidence as we go on. Oh, I love that. I only have one conspiracy theory, which is that when if you're in the venue, um, and doors are open and people are already in the building and Rick's guitar is missing from the stage. We're getting a freshy that night. So that's my only conspiracy theory that I have that I have has proven to be quite true. My friend shout out to Michael who also mentioned this to me. I don't remember what show we're at. I think, I think it was Atlanta. He leaned over. He's like, Rick's guitar is missing. We're getting a freshy tonight. And sure enough, everything must go as played that night for the first time. So yeah, it's, it's something I key into. I'm always looking at who's missing. What's, what's not? What's not that that's supposed to be? What's patch doing back there? Like all, all those kinds of things. Lucas, you have any goose related conspiracy theories that you're a girl? No, I don't. I, you know, I thought of them really silly one about the hoodies, but it's not worth everyone's time. Um, because John Weber and I really quickly, John Weber and I held up our beige and purple hoodies. Like they're the beige ones with the purple font. And we had the exact same size, but they were like, if you looked at the length, they were like ten inches different in length. And then we looked and they were totally different brands. And I'm just like, why is this the same hoodie, same price? And they're totally different hoodies, different colors and everything. That's what I could think of. That's what I love. That's, that's an, that's an avide related conspiracy theory. I love it. The hoodie sizes are, are, are fluctuating. I hear that. That's, that's. Like, that kid from Chicago, he was saying in the bathroom one, he was saying that he thinks the song Thatch is written upon the movie Atlanta. Right. I can't remember that. Because the, the, you know, like all the lyrics kind of go with it. And then like the main, the main character in the movie is Thatch. And, yeah, or is my, you know, like there's someone in their name Thatch. And, and I was like, interesting things, you know, thanks for letting us know. So, you know, so I just, I was like, oh, well, gotta let, gotta let him know about that. That was a pretty funny one. I was like, no, I've got to go watch that movie. I definitely do that on the stormy day. You never know with Rick. He's always where he's pulling these things from. Um, you know, is it talking about getting inspiration in the shower? Actually, I've heard him mention that. So, I'm here for it. I like it. Well, Lucas, where can everyone follow you and keep up with you besides at the next Goo show? Where can you talk with your shenanigans and the amazing important work you do in the rest of the world as well? Twitter's probably like the place that I've become like most vocal about Goos. I feel bad for like the following I gained from like political stuff. Now it's like all my tweets are goos and they do their whole thing. I know what happens. I'm always like, I know you guys are sick of talking here. We talk about goos, but also here's another goos related threat. Yeah. But you know what I'm finding is that like my goos friends are also like my social justice friends and like I adore that. So they, they seem to all like both kinds of content. So my Twitter is probably my best place to, um, to find me. I'll put it on the Facebook. I think it's the app. Yeah, I would say it out loud so folks can hear today. I'm Lucas Anderson. Um, and there's an underscore. Um, I think I can put it in the Facebook comments and then you can pop it in there and I'll put it up on screen. Yeah. Um, awesome. Lucas, thank you so much for taking time out of the time that you're spending with your family. I hope you thank your mom and your dad for me, especially because I know what your dad's birthday. So happy birthday to him as well. Thank you. So thanks for joining us. Well, we'll let you go back and spend family time and I'll see you next week and see if we're friends. Thank you guys. We know if you can make it so I didn't want to like an else at the beginning of the show, you know. One of my favorite things, my new favorite things about being up closer at shows is just Lucas. Slithering through the crowd like at points through the night. He's so good at it. I don't know how he's like really perfect to get in and out of that spot. So it's so fun. You get to see him like multiple times throughout the night. Definitely is. Well, thanks everyone. That brings us to the end of our Chicago recap live show. Thanks for joining us. I want to throw it over to Alexia to talk a little bit about the most recent episode that we had up that she hosted. So I thought she likes folks know why they should turn in tune into that. It's called shooting the scene. Yes, definitely turn into shooting the scene. It talks.
