NHL Best Bets | Western Conference Finals Game 5 Betting Preview

Nobody wins! Let's everybody win. This is your climb. We're in this game! I'm going to break the buck back. Let it possible go! These guys aren't good. Staring good. This crowd is going for the bananas! As they say in hockey, let's do that hockey. Hello everyone. Welcome back to LineChange, the NHL betting podcast from the action network presented to you by BetMGM. My name is Michael Liboff. Joining me for this brief episode is Nick Martin and Nick. The DAL stars are still alive. We'll talk game five, which is Saturday, May 27th, looking at a holiday weekend here in the United States. So, there'll be a game on Saturday, and if necessary, Memorial Day, hopefully we'll figure something out to record for that one. But if it comes to pass, should the stars lose on Saturday? The Stanley Cup final starts on Wednesday. If they win, that'll push it to Saturday, June 3rd. We'll also talk World Championship a little bit at the end. But Dallas is plus 1-10 on the road. Vegas minus 1-30 at home. Numbers are kind of all over the place here in the early betting, but those are the numbers from MGM. Total is 5 and a half. So three out of the four games in the series have kind of looked similar to me. And that might sound obvious because those three games went over time. But you can make an argument that Dallas is better in games two and four. Vegas was the better team in game one. And maybe you could say one of the other ones was a coin flip. However you want to paint it. But pretty close games, whoever's going to get the timely goal, the overtime goal is going to win. That's how it played out again tonight. I thought Dallas was pretty good, especially in the middle of the game. Another early goal, they didn't wilt at this time. Nobody tried to decapitate another player, which was a good sign for the stars too. I would say that Dallas is still the betting side here. And I think that the more the series goes on, the more opportunities you give Aidan Hill to turn into a pumpkin, the better it is for Dallas. And once again, that's an obvious statement to say because they're backs against the wall. But the longer the series goes, the difference in goal tending you think would show up. Hill was good again tonight though. So I'll still be going on Dallas. I still like, I talked on green dot daily about Max Domi as a player prop guy. I want to target in terms of goal scoring. I'll be there again, I think for Saturday as well. Anything for you here, Dallas and Vegas? Yeah, I think if you're seeing it around plus 125 for the star, that's probably the value side. It's hard to say though. I think this series has been hard to handicap because I've expected this big goal tending differential and it's basically the advice for us so that. And I do think that part of the Aidan Hill thing, I mean, it's not hard to see Vegas is insulating him really, really well. Like a five on five third offensive plays just so good right now that that's obviously been such a big key of it. Two of the stars goals were on the power play tonight. So kind of a strength thing. They need to lean on. I really still don't have a lot here. It looked more open tonight. Like I thought there was, especially in the third, it broke open with some pretty good chances, but it all looks pretty sharp. I think the Domi play is decent. Other than that, maybe not a lot. Nick, actually the one guy, I thought Nick was kind of catching my eye if you can get a really long number on him to score that Carlson line with him is still looking really good and playing really well at both ends of the ice. And what I thought Jack Eichol was really good. He really stood out there if he could have broken through with some of those ones late, but I mean, you're not really getting paid off on an Eichol goal right now. That's kind of just a little out the window. So I think that's really all I have there. And I feel like maybe game six, there could be some really good betting. This one to me, it feels like you're almost just waiting to see. I don't know. I want to see game six now too, as much as I think if this series extends into like seven, maybe that hurts how good the final could be. But who knows? I did kind of think that Vegas might really be able to play Florida pretty heavily and maybe this extends it. And the way it's going for Florida, you know, I'm a little bit pointing this out, but I wouldn't be shocked to see this thing go seven and then just beat the hell out of each other in Florida. Like it feels like that's the break that they'll get. So yeah, who knows, credit to the stars, they're closed minus one ten and you know, part of that was the guys they didn't have after being minus one fifty and game three and with their bets against the wall came through. So they definitely deserve some credit. Okay, folks, Summer is nearly here. So let's talk about Shady Ray's Friends of the Action podcast family. It feels like the first time in this playoffs, and this is anecdotal and probably wrong, but where that overreaction to a situation where it was, like I said, stars closed minus 150 in Game 3, they lose it, they look bad, spend a suspended, DeDonov gets hurt. That shouldn't move the line for $0.40. It did, and so many times to this playoffs, I feel like when the lines have moved like that, it's buying the value of buying into the overreaction. That's not worked out, but it did tonight. For sure, there's been a lot of these where I've worn losers where I get it in early. Get all the closing line value. Get on what I think the side that a lot of people would probably say is the sharp side and just game doesn't go that way. Jamie Ben Crossocks, a guy in the head, will ever this. Just, some team scores two power play goals in 30 seconds. It just feels like it's been so many of those, so I agree. It's been hard, I think, on sides in the playoffs for sure. All right, go to the World Championships now. We don't have any more deep dives into the second person to touch the cup. So we'll just stick to the World Championships for this one and let you all go on with your weekend. Yeah, so if anyone was on US today and took that play, they came through for us with the nice 3-0 win. I really love their team right now. I don't think I'd want to play them against Germany. I mean, there are plus 135 to win 3-way. I think you could maybe do that, but Germany played really well as a team today. I think it's going to be a really tight game, so there's maybe not as much value as you want there. I'm hoping that it's a Canada USA final and that Canada gets priced as a pretty heavy favorite. That's kind of what I'm watching for. So if you are interested, I don't know on the long weekend if it'll attract too many eyes, but the game is on Saturday, USA versus Germany, Canada plays Latvia. I mean, I could lean towards Canada, but I'm more so at this point just eyeing up a final where I think it'll probably set up where Canada is two favorite over Germany. So hopefully we'll get to that and then we'll definitely touch on that on the next episode. But honestly, I've been happy with the world championship hockey that I've watched, just as a fan. There's a lot of good young guys there. There's space, there's stuff happening. There's nice goals. And I mean, part of that is that guys, they're breaking down defensively. It's not quite the same as the playoffs right now, but I watched today's games and I was actually pretty satisfied with them. So I'm recommending the world's right now. Oh, and you know what? Last note, too. I think you could consider Carter Galtje goal again. He's like the fourth favorite to score on the US or score for the States in that game. And if you've paid attention, his run right now is bananas. And then JJ Paterka too for Germany is looking awesome. So if you want some goals, scores on those games, I think that's very reasonable. Paterka, Carter Gaultier, Nick Wah, Max Domi, and likely the stars. There you have it. Have a great weekend, everybody. Be sure to rate, review, and subscribe if you've been with us because the next time you might hear us could be the Stanley Cup final preview show. And we'd like to raise our profile for that week.
