He does go on to give a great assist in 3-1 is the final score line. A score line that keeps Vayadolid safe for the moment. This is Vamos presented by Bud Light, easy to drink, easy to enjoy and I'm your host, Triculiz Gomez. In this episode, every Divisiate Champion, Mexican international forward, Santiago Jimenez opens up about his Fay-N-O journey and while we're on the topic of forward, Raul Jimenez says goodbye to the Wolverhampton fans and a little U20 World Cup talk for the US Youth National team. But for all this and more, what are you waiting for? Vamos! I'm really excited to present this interview for you guys with Santiago Jimenez, one of the more talented players, more exciting players in all of concaf today. A player that's on the tip of everybody's tongue in Europe. This man is wanted and we got him here with us on Vamos. We're going to talk to him about what makes him tick. He's upbringing in Mexico, playing for Corso Soul, how he got to where he is today at Fayonor, that amazing goal scoring street, fighting for titles and maybe even a golden boot. So I can't wait to share this with you guys. Here we go. I'm with one of the premier goal scores right now in all of concaf. A man who's fighting for the golden boot right now in the area Divisi. It's Santiago Jimenez. Santi, how are you doing, my man? I'm doing great. Thank you very much. Thanks for the invitation. Here on Vamos, we talk a lot about the best in concaf. A lot of great goal scores. I mean, you have Jonathan David, Canada Kyle Laren, Canadian as well. Ricardo Pepi, following in Balagan, just committed to the U.S. men's national team. Who's the best nine in concaf right now? I think you're not the David. I like it a lot. He saw some playing. He scored a lot of goals. And then the competition is really nice because it's good to hear that concaf players are doing great in Europe. And that's nice for me to hear it. Somebody who's doing very well in Europe is yourself. Fayonor champions after six years. First of all, congratulations. Thank you. How does it feel? Fayonor is a very huge club because of the fans, because of all the titles they have won. And now that I'm part of the history of Fayonor, for me, it's amazing that you see Netherlands people wearing the Mexican flags. And it's awesome. It's amazing. Take this in the best possible way. You're very young. You're 22 years old. But I feel like I've seen you forever. You've debuted when you were 15 years old at Grozasul. This season, your very first season in Europe, you scored 15 goals in league play. You scored five goals in the Europa League. Only Marcus Rashford scored more goals in Europa League. Another three in the Dutch Cup. Yes. But in League of Mecces for the four years that you were there some more years, you never scored more than five. What changed for Santiago Jimenez? I think with the last coach I had in Grozasul. Yeah, Diego Aguirre, the Uruguayan. He gave me the confidence. He told me, okay, right now I don't care what you have been in the last years. I want you to be the number nine of Grozasul. And you are the only one that can be in that position. I don't want to buy any striker. I want you to be you. And that, I think I made a change. And I start believing in myself. And I said myself, like, okay, right now I'm the number nine of Grozasul. And it's what I have dreamed all my life. So I need to be the best striker of Mexico. And I started believing in myself. And that's what I change, I think. Then when I come to Fayanor, the same, I think the same. I'm the number nine of Fayanor. And I need to be the best striker in this team and in this league. So I'm thinking like that. And I think that helps me a lot because it gave me a lot of confidence. Before the game, you need to believe in yourself. And you need to know that you're the best. Even if you are not, you need to believe it. And that's the most important thing that I think I change when I was in Mexico. And right now, you also had a very good coach in that aspect. Robin Van Pursi, he's a forward coach at Fayanor. What's that like? Because I grew up a Manchester United fan. So I hated him when he was at Arsenal. But then he went to Manchester United. And I love him. He's a very good player. Yeah, he was a top scorer, I think, of Premier League with Arsenal and with Manchester United. He was unbelievable. And now he comes to the training sessions all the Thursdays or Friday sometimes. And he teaches. We do a lot of plays. He gives us a lot of tips of top strikers that you need to keep it for life. And where you were a striker, knowing you know that if you have Robin Van Pursi in front, you need to learn about it and just try to do whatever he says, because he got a lot of success being striker, being the number nine of Fayanor Arsenal, Manchester United. So you actually in your debut season broke a record for a Mexican in their debut season in Europe. You broke Luis Garcia, who played at L'Etco Madrid. And you also have your L'Etco commercial. They are good players, but better persons. I think they are really nice. What's Chicharito said to you? We talk about the record and all this stuff. But yeah, I told him that I would never be in his level because the circumstance are different. He make this at Premier League. I make it at Eddy Vicier. And I try to tell him that I don't care about the record. I only care about myself. I'm proud of myself, you know, but I'm not compete with them. I only compete with myself. So it's nice to see that numbers. And I tell him, of course, to Chicharito that I love him when I was a child. And you're gonna see it at the same. I bet that made him feel very old. Let me ask you a question. Right now, you're fighting actually for the Golden Boot and they are at the Busy. You're two goals from the leader. Do you think about that? Yes, I think about that. I think it will be really special if I got the top goals scored. But I don't see that price like personal. I think this price deserves to the team because they do all the effort to give me the goals and just to push it and to score. So I feel it more like it's a surprise that the team deserves. And I will not take it personally because it's not just me. We all score and we are all together. I see in these few weeks that all the team telling me like, I will pass you the ball and I will make the score. So that makes me proud of them and very comfortable. You know, I know that Dennis de Closier, the CEO of Féonard, who brought you to the team has already said he'd like for you to stay at Féonard another season. I think you have publicly stated that you would like to stay as well. But it must feel very good when you hear teams like Manchester United, Newcastle, Brighton, Sevilla, Porto, Benfica, Lazio. They've all been linked to you Santiago. When you think about the future, what's the style or the league that you think best fits Santiago Jimenez? Hey, I don't know which league I don't have experience. I don't know which one could be the best one. The only thing I know is that I'm very happy and proud that I would love to stay one more year. I have three years contract. Of course, I'm now in Féonard and I'm very happy. So what I have to say, I don't know my future is true that many teams have been watching me, but there is no offer, like formal offer, you know. So now I'm thinking about Féonard and very happy here. And if I stay here, I will be the happiest person in the world because I'm enjoying a lot. You know, Dennis de Classe, he did this interview where he mentioned that when he was the general manager of the LA Galaxy, he actually tried bringing you to make you a soccer to the LA Galaxy. What do you remember about that? Yeah, I got a lot of interesting clubs in the MLS when I was in Crucesoul. One of them was Galaxy, the other one Columbus and the other one I think the LAFC. So it was a hard decision because like you see, I was not playing that much in Crucesoul and the MLS is a very really attractive league that is growing a lot. So it was a really difficult decision, but I decided to stay because when I was a kid, the only thing I wanted is to play at Crucesoul and now that I'm there in the first team, why would I live? So we decided to stay with my family and I think it was the first option I can make. I know your family is very important to you. Your father is a legendary player. Christian El Chaco Jimenez, Ex-Boca Juniors, Ex-Boca, Ex-Crucesoul, he was a legend at Pachuca and Crucesoul. When he was at Boca Juniors, he played in a legendary game in Mexican folklore. Boca Juniors versus Crucesoul in the Libertadores final in 2001. You were probably two months, three months of age. I know you didn't watch that, but what is your father Christian El Chaco Jimenez tell you about that game? He told me like, yeah, I won a Liberty to always to Crucesoul and then I was a player of Crucesoul and it's difficult and he told me like always play the games with respect because you don't know if the next year you will go to that team. So I always have that advice of my father that always playing with respect and don't try to make angry anything because all we can turn around. Yeah, you know LeBron James has publicly stated that he doesn't want to retire until he and his son Bronnie James playing the same team together. Well, share the court together. You actually did this with your father. You debuted when you were 15 years old. If memory service is correct, it was a game Crucesoul versus Pumas in Houston. You wore the number 349. That was your jersey number. Yeah, I remember. What does this Boca number? What do you remember about that game? I think it was one of the most special games in my life. To play with your father, it's amazing. One day you are playing in the street or in a small pitch of soccer 7 and now you play like for a division with your father. It's something special. I know that a few people did that and that makes you proud of yourself, proud of what you can achieve. I was really, really young. I remember that game that I, it was a friendly game with Pumas and I broke my bone. Oh, your collarbone? Yeah, my collarbone. I broke it and I played with the broken collarbone but it was a special moment even the circumstances. For me, I think it was the most special game I have ever played. You drew a penalty kick that game if memory serves me correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They keep making me a penalty and I broke my collarbone then my dad shoot and missed the penalty. Oh, no! It will be much better if he score. So you've got, you've got obviously a very good relationship with your father. I mentioned that your father was a legend of Pachuca and Crucesoul. Crucesoul is the team that would always get to the finals and can never win the final. Not since 1999. They actually went something like 20 years not being able to win the league title. You were an important part of winning that league title. You scored some massive goals in that league or that playoff to get to the final and win it. You've had this to say to your father, you famously said this. Bistec and Nostandi Fisil, which is, see, it wasn't so difficult. What did he have to say to you after you said that to him? Yeah, we, we have a, like you said, we have a very good relationship. He's my father, but I, I know he's my best friend too. So we make a lot of yokes each other. So when I talk him like, yeah, it wasn't that difficult. And he, he answered like, yes, but now you need to live a daughter once with Americana. We yoke each other and I love that. So that's amazing. And it's like a push up for me to have this relationship. Now let's talk about national team. Let's talk about the Mexican national. You're a very important player to Mexico's future. So I have to ask you, you've seen Kankakaf, who is El Gigante the Kankakaf right now? Who is the Kankakaf giant for you? It doesn't matter who it is. It's better to have giants in Kankakaf. I think Canada, USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, they are getting much better each day. They are growing. So that's, that's good for, for all the Kankakaf we need to grow because I think now six countries of Kankakaf will play the next World Cup. Yeah, I don't care if I say that USA is the giant of, if Mexico is the giant, the only thing that I know is that it's a good, very good game to watch, a very good game to fight. And I would love to play that game. The US versus Mexico game is one of your dreams. Yes. Yes. Okay, Kankakaf, like you said, is growing. They're exporting a lot of players to Europe. Like never before. Why don't we see more Mexican players in Europe? I think what I heard is because of the prices of the players. What I don't really know, the answer because we have the talent in Mexico. And every, every player that comes to Europe, he makes a very good season. So I don't know the answer. I think the price it could be. But I would love to see more players here in Europe. And it's nice to being a very good reference of Mexican players. So then in a future they can bring more and like, get some dollars here in favor of more Mexicans. PSV got a lot of Mexicans. And yeah, we wanted to Mexico to have the most players of Kankakaf in Europe. But okay, now it's, I think, USA. But yeah, I think the talent of Mexico is really, really nice. And that's why they have success in Europe. Now you mentioned the US men's national team. From afar, what you've seen from them, what are your thoughts, anything you like about that team or the pool of players? Yes, I love that they are growing a lot. Not even just a national team. You see the MLS and they are growing and growing and growing. So I love that because even if they are rivals, I love to see that football is growing in whichever country it is. And now that a lot of USA players are coming to Europe for me, especially even if they are another country. I hope that we can achieve that like Mexican because I would love to see 100, 150 players in Europe of Mexico. That will be amazing for the league and for the national team. I want to mention another rivalry. Maybe on the field as far as what people want to make it, Ricardo Pepe. Ricardo Pepe, US men's national team player, played for Groningen. Fae Nord played Groningen and there was this image that sticks out in my head of you and Ricardo Pepe, two players that were left off their respective rosters in the guitar world cup, having a moment, sharing a moment. What did you guys say to each other after that game? We were talking about the World Cup, what happened because I thought he was going and he told me a little bit how the stuff in the national team was going. The same with me. We talk about the life, about the family because it's difficult to come to Europe and to be far away of your family. I know him about that day but we have a very good conversation and now I think we have a good relationship. I think Ricardo Pepe, if you see the games here in the Dutch league, he's an awesome striker and I would love him to grow all he got because he can make a very good career. Your father's mentioned before that Tatum Martino reached out to you. Did he say anything about the World Cup? Did he say anything? What was said? The only thing is that he write me like congrats for your moment. I'm very proud of you and that's it. I said I told him thank you very much. Blah blah blah but it's nothing extra just just this and the people will not think that but I'm really really grateful with Tata because when I was 19 years he bring me to the national team even if I don't play too much in Clusasú so he believed in me he he gave me confidence he always teach me and of course his Tata Martino, one of the best coaches in the world, he coach Barcelona and I really appreciate that. Now before I let you go you mentioned the very special game that you want to be part of the US men's national team versus Mexico. They're going to play each other in a semi-final game. It's not even a final. It's a semi-final game in Las Vegas. Give me your thoughts on that big matchup. For if I think it's an amazing game when I was a child I promise I wanted with all my all my cards to play that game and now that it's possible I would love to be there in the pitch. It would be amazing not only because the game I want to see all the the people even if it's in in USA you know that in USA they are a lot of Mexican so I want to leave that game and it would be amazing to to play it and for us really important to win it because you like you know we don't have a good experience the last games with USA. All right very quickly America Chivas once in my final. Classic already on the other side Tigres Monterey who makes the final. I think the final would be Tigres Chivas. Oh rematch 2017 rematch. All right I dig it I dig it. Santiago Jimenez thank you so much for your time. Best of luck and did it to visit. I hope you get that goal scoring title would make everybody back in concap very proud. Good luck congratulations for being called up to the provisioning roster for Mexico the 40-man roster and we hope to see you in Las Vegas. Thank you very much for the invitation and God bless you bye bye. This week's shot is for a striker that touched everybody's heart especially at Wolverhampton that fan base. This one's really going to pull out the heartstrings last Sunday an emotional farewell from Wolverhampton for Aulchimanis. After his arrival in the 2018-19 season the famous season your chant ran through the stadium that is right season your dedicated to the Mexican international who said his goodbyes to the Wolverhampton families for 18 months at Aulchimanis when not only amongst the world's best players but the Premier League's elite a goal scoring threat with the bodice feet and lethal with his head a unique ability to play make from the center forward position unlike many that we've seen here in conquer calf. His play was infectious he became an immediate fan favorite the man had it all. Unfortunately sometimes as a footballer the game could be taken away from you November 29th 2020 Wolves vs Arsenal a play that will forever change throughout his life. Corner Brazilian and the way is going in there's a fearful crack of heads there. The clash of heads with Brazilian defender Dabi Luis and like that everything was different many fear Raoul Jimenez would never make his way back to being on the field 200 days later he proved everybody wrong at 32 years of age he will look for a second opportunity hopefully in Europe I'd like to remember Raoul Jimenez not as the player that left Wolves but the player he showed us he could be even if it was for a brief moment he showed us not only that he belonged but he showed us that he was among the elite so an affectionate salute to Raoul Jimenez and whatever comes next. Welcome to drop the bag your ultimate sports betting guide whether you're a fan of League of M.A.M.A.S or any other competition Vamos has you covered. Alright alright alright it's Laffenal the final. Liga M.A.M.A.S a two-legged affair nobody expected Chivas a perennial ninth over the last eight years that is their average with Velco Panovic to make it to the final and certainly nobody expected Digres three coaching changes this season bounced from the concave champions league in the semi-final game in humiliating fashion and yet here they are a team that I said has the muscle memory of a champion so let's raise a but liked both of them the underdogs if you will and it's a rematch Chivas de la la Cara they emerged as winners of the Liga Mecchi finals in 2017 they defeated Mike Digres this is a very difficult one to predict and I will tell you why Digres is very Jekyll and Hyde whether they're playing at home or away all season they've been the team that you cannot trust but lately in playoffs led by Sebastian Corro the young talented Mexican international the midfielder has five goals in his last five Ligia games five goals in the playoffs in five games he's been an absolute monster easily the best player today left in this competition but they're going up against a team that defensively has just found their form only five goals against in the last eight games I wanted to talk about Antonio El Pollo Brisenio a Mexican player who was nowhere near Chivas is starting light up nowhere near the Mexican national team maybe he should be on both since he started Chivas is great I dubbed him the Mexican Rüdiger that's right the Mexican Antonio Rüdiger that's who he is today this man is the defensive wall but I'm going against Chivas in this one if Digres has any chance of winning this series they'll take advantage of being that home team again like they have all playoff and Digres straight money line over Chivas pays plus 100 so I'm taking Digres and leg one at home over Chivas that's plus 100 all right game two we're heading to the German Bundes Ligia Borussia Dortmund versus Mainz this has title consequences for Giovanni Reyna and Dortmund they win their champions that easy all they have to do is beat Mainz easier said than done it'll be the first time that a team not named Bayern Munich wins and I don't even know how long that's the domination of Bayern Munich in the Bundes Ligia so we wish Giovanni Reyna and Dortmund well but I'm taking the both teams to score at minus 140 Dortmund's a juggernaut offensively Mainz will get their goal I don't know who will win Dortmund is one each of its last 11 Bundes Ligia matches at home 11 they've won them all and the overmarket of two and a half goals has hit in each of their last 12 games and the both teams to score market is hitting seven to the last eight so I feel pretty good about this bet both teams to score at minus 140 I hope it is Dormen I hope it is Giovanni Reyna the US men's national team pool need something you need a silver lining in this abysmal yanks abroad season that would be a cherry on top for Dormen in their campaign and a nice little feather on the cap for Giovanni Reyna alrighty there's trouble in Toronto let's head to Major League Soccer Toronto FC playing against DC United they played each other in the very first game I come from behind victory for DC United and that's when it started going downhill for Toronto since then Toronto's abysmal not only are they bad there's a bunch of injuries like almost 10 players are injured quality players like Jonathan Osorio reports of Lorenzo and Sinja not being on board Michael Bradley still injured he was just in Europe about to be operated on that hamstring there's a lot of going on in Toronto not all as well one of their best players since he got there the Italian Federico Bernadeschi is speaking out against the tactical plan of Toronto FC a direct shot at Bob Bradley knowing Bob he will not take kind to that I don't know if this one of these loss in translation type of things but something is going on in Toronto we need to keep an eye on they play DC United in Toronto I'm going to take the money line draw here okay it pays plus 230 I know that's very easy to say but plus 230 is a sweet little payout and each of the last three MLS night games at BMO field in Toronto between DC United and Toronto have resulted in a regular time draw at plus 230 in the way Toronto is playing just trying to hold on with the DC United team that doesn't really convince me not that I'm not high on Wayne Rooney what he's done but I'm still not completely convinced I'll take the plus 230 drop but keep your eye on what's going on in Toronto but I like the plus 230 so let's go with that all right so if you'd like to parlay all those three bets you place $10 a 10 bet for a three game parley that payout is plus 997 that's a total of $109.71 I know producer Juan is keen on that so whether you're a season better or just starting out Vamos we have you covered and a little U20 World Cup talk for the US Youth National team and I know it's Fiji and I know you see this on paper and you think the US Youth National Team should steam roll Fiji maybe so but these games are never easy you have a lot of turnover you have a Fiji team that's just set on staying compact and defending and a US Youth National team that had plenty of chances but couldn't break them down the typical as soon as you get one the floodgates would open and it's exactly what happened it wasn't pretty by any means Diego Luna comes on at halftime minute 66 there's a play in the box Kate Cal gets clipped it looks like a penalty kick he stops the Fiji player stops the only one who didn't stop was Diego Luna who recognized the play was still going on and slots it home for the first. It ends up being a 3-0 score line Kate Calwell gets into the 88th and in like the 99th minute Caleb Wiley scores his own goal off a brand and Craig Free kick deflected off the post good save by the keeper a little tapping I never got those in my life I'm not jealous but this is the typical game you need to put away the typical game that needs to be professional it doesn't need to look good now for the fourth time in four World Cups the US Youth National team is qualified for the knockout rounds regardless of what happens versus Slovakia the fourth time the only nation that could presume that today in this competition so all the best of the baby yanks and keep making us proud.
