Solo - My Trip to the ER, An Update on Ghiaia and Your Questions Answered

The following podcast is a deer media production. Hello, just for a little warning, you're definitely going to hear some snoring from Chi Chi Nutella and Navidad is going to very loudly come into this house. He's in the garage, which is underneath our bedroom, working out, it is 10, 20 pm on Monday, September 25th. This podcast will come out in two days. I love recording the podcasts. That's close to the live date as possible. I don't know when I listen to a podcast I like to know that it was recorded. Like it's like up to date, like it was like a recent, but it doesn't matter. And I was supposed to have turned this in last week, sorry, Nick. But I had a really crazy week last week. Until you why? I had to last minute go out of town for he like art directs freelance. And he had to go to Kentucky last week. Super like he found out like the day before he left that he was leaving the next day. And it took a day for him to get there and then he did a day of shooting and then it took him a day to come back. And so there were things last minute that I needed to help with with his store, which really throws me. And I obviously don't mind doing it. Like that's just a part of it, but you know, then my like to do list goes out the door. One of the those things was doing the podcast. So I get this call from our handyman Edgar. It was to die for that we've been like working with for a long time. I'm just like stuff that we needed our house. And so obviously when we got the new guise store keys, we called Edgar right away to kind of be like, you know, we it's minor stuff. We just need the floors taken up. They were like laminate tiles. And then it needs to be painted and he's going to put in like I bought like a vintage sink and I have to go buy a toilet. The bathroom is the bathroom is my job. So I get a call last week. I think it was writing that someone came and told them that they had to stop working. And it was like somebody from the city and they said they weren't going to give. Also ticket and they were nice about it, but that I had to like run over to city hall. And the news stories in a town called Sam Reno, which is just a very different from I mean, every town has its own rules, of course. But it very much is different than that of pastina for sure. Like I think if you I think you yeah, I mean like the homes have regulations. So they all kind of look a certain way. It's yeah. So I am like, what the fuck? I was like, I just get this call being like, oh, like we have to stop working. And like, you know, this is our own money we're putting into this. You know, it's all money from yeah, like every penny counts, every day counts, right? We're like trying to get the store open as soon as possible. There's so much we need to do and it's just us. We don't have help. We don't have a designer. We don't have no doubt it has another employee for the store. But like it's a two and a half man team because Nathan just works in the store. And so every second is just it reminds me so much of what I was in my 20s. Me is to open up information stores because it was just this like learn as you go chaotic. Wait, okay, that doesn't work and this doesn't work. What's our quickest solution? And how are we going to problem solve? And I actually had this like surge of felt like invigorating to be like, okay, there's a problem. Like I'm going to handle it. Dobby day was on I have like a layover. Excuse me. So I text him like, call me when you win. And he gets very like emotional, of course, because he's just stressed and he's tired. And so I was like, don't freak out. I have an actual. I'm running over to city hall right now. So. And yeah, so I like renters the doll. It's like the most beautiful. See I'll ever see in my life. I've never been. Obviously grew up on the like I grew up in Pasadena. Obviously I've been to San Marino many times in my adolescence and adult life. The street that he's moving to is one of my favorite streets. And I, you know, when we were in high school, we go to like a house party got broken up in San Marino. Everyone would go to the inn and out over there. But I've never been like down that far down Huntington Drive. Really ever. And it's beautiful. And so I. There's a beautiful city hall next like a beautiful, beautiful fire station. And I walk in and I'm like, hi. You know, someone just came and said that we had to stop working and we need to permit. Which by the way, it's so shocking like because we're not doing construction. It was nothing external. But apparently the anyone who's working on a property and stuff like a sticker on the back of their car. It's like so. So. The these like really nice. Everyone that worked and they were so nice and the sweet guy is like, okay, the permit situation. The guy who approves the permits is in here once a week for an hour. He only sees five people. So you need to come back on that day. 8 a.m. Sign in. So you're like the first person on the list. And then come back to 10 for your appointment. Like fill out all this paperwork to render instead of that. I'm like, okay, great. And then I was like, oh, I also heard that we maybe need to get a, you know, approval to put up a sign in like the name of the store. And they were like, oh, that's like a three month approval process. And I was like, what? And I was like, okay, what can I put like a sticker on the door? And they were like, oh, that's a temporary signage. And that gets approved quicker. But that's so needs to get approved. Like I can't, we can't even put a sticker on the fucking window. Anyway, I'm we're going to follow the rules. We respect everything. Of course, but I was like mother fucker. And then I had to pick up a bunch of stuff and move it into the store on Friday. And then I had to pick up a bunch of stuff and move it into the store on Friday, which I love. I always love. And this is when I love when we still open the ref stores. Like, we would love moving the furniture around. I would love picking things up. I would love painting. I would love doing. And I just love all like the physical aspects of it and running into people who are walking by. And they're like, oh, what's going in here? Like, here's love. This is why I hope one day that we have Barbara and Cheney. And I'm just working there all day long. And they just like love problem solving. I love the chaos. And I love talking to people. So I was lifting these pots and I felt like I had possibly a hernia a couple months ago. I emailed my doctor and was like, I kind of this like lump above my pelvic bone. And I had a pernuvo scan and the pernuvo scan said that I am cancer free everywhere. So the lump didn't scare me. And I don't think, yeah, I don't know. So I'm like I feel this thing a couple days ago that starts being family god it like really hurts and so it feels weird and then I feel the like lump that I had and now it's like massive I'm like fuck what is that this was like Friday's when I moved the pot Saturday's when I felt it and I was like oh my god I'm like. Like emailed my one doctor and using might be a hernia really sounds like it's a hernia like this is my function doctor he like gave me a couple options of things I could do. Then I call my general doctor that I see like once a year and she's like okay I can sneak you in on Monday but like that's going to be very hard to do also I'm going to have to order you. Like a cat scan and an ultrasound and that's like a whole fucking record that's like a whole record we're all right like we know how this goes like you go to the doctor they they touch the thing that you say hurts and then they like send you to three other people and it's like along process. But she was like you can totally do that she said I honestly suggest that you go to like urgent care or are because they have all the stuff there like fine. Like nobody it doesn't seem like it's urgent like let's go on Monday and then yesterday it's Sunday started feeling like a lot of pain I'm like okay we should probably go. Like I'm like I went on a walk with my mom and the baby and I was like man like I really don't feel good. So job days like let's just please go to the urgent care so we got an urgent care there's a nice one in lock and yada and by the way they don't check you in through people anymore there's like iPads and you sign in and like a person pops up on the iPad and checks you. And so I said what my symptoms were and the woman on the iPad was like okay the doctor is going to talk to you for a second to see if we can check you in I'm like fine. So I go back in this like nice woman they're my guy and I just put my hand like I take her hand and I put it on the lump and she's like that's why you're hurting out my back okay. I'm like can you you know give me a scan or an ultrasound she's like it's Sunday so like that we don't have anyone in here to do it she's like you really need to go to her or go to the emergency room. Like we go to the emergency room we go to Huntington and past you know where you know it's our hospital and it is packed like out there's a big hospital and it is packed packed packed. I'm like I'm not doing this like I'm going to be here so so I ask one of the nurses I was like what is like the least busy time she's like honestly between like six and seven a.m. Is when it's like there's nobody in here I'm like great so we woke up this morning at six a.m. Tomat is an angel like got me out of bed like God snacks. And we went and everyone was so nice and really thoughtful very helpful. And the one thing that I will say that I noticed and I like mentioned it in my Instagram story is that they have so much security I've never seen this at a hospital and this is a hospital I was born like I went to an emergency there once for myself a couple of years ago we had to bring Carmella there once when she had 104 fever they didn't have any of this so there's like three like hot there's like police and security and a metal detector. And I was like what is this and basically it was sad is that they said that there's like you know obviously our country has you know safety issues anyway right so that's layer one and then layer two they were explaining that there are so many unhoused people that use the hospitals as a place to get a meal and shelter and that a lot of them you know have are mentally. In a different place than many of us and so they need to be like we're strained I mean the whole thing was so sad. It's sad there are so many unhoused people it's sad that we don't have any mental health for anybody and then it's sad for the nurses. And so it's sad that there's like now having to like this is a huge part of their job. And so whatever I just want to say when nurses have had to deal with the last five years is just unimaginable so I have a hernia and a hurts. I'm seeing like another doctor that can like help me basically like ice it and like push it back in because it doesn't require surgery which is what I can learn from a cat's game. Oh my god and tomorrow we're going early to the hall so we can get this permit and start work back on the storm. Okay I am going to answer some of these questions thoughts on cool being cool looking cool being jealous of others cool online. What an interesting question. I took a class taught by Jessica Glasgow who I'm trying to get on the podcast it was one of my favorite professors and she still teaches. On the death of cool as you think is really interesting I think cool has changed a lot obviously thanks in part to the internet I like notice when I'm on tiktok all the time that like my feed it's rare that it's like anyone that we would call like conventionally attractive doing something. Like fun and cool and attractive like my for you page is a lot of really interesting people doing like cool interesting things like showing off their skulls get or they're humor and it's just all. No like I don't what we would call like I guess just like normal people right these are people who live. Like not in major cities or like girls that live in major cities who kind of like talk about like a day in their life but those are necessarily weren't necessarily girls who like 10 years ago if they were working in the same industry would be considered cool right it would be like you know at a fashion office there probably be like a few girls who would be and thank God that it's change and thank God that it's cool is kind of like in the eye of the beholder at this point and I think talking about what seems cool online I mean we have to remember that Instagram is like totally an editorial spread so you know things are going to just seem in a different way and I don't think that you know I have a different perspective because like I go I like thrown events and gone to events and used to a million events when I did PR like we did a million events at reformation like I have seen both sides of like the event fashion space for so long. And I'll tell you this right now like these things are not cool in real life they're very it's very rare that you go to like a fashion event where you're like I was great like they're always a little I was kind of look at it each other everyone has to get their content that's like a lot of the it's a very I'm really lucky because I love everybody who attend you know it's like my circle is just full of people that I get so happy to see but it's it's not like it's like a lot of people who are like in and out and I know it's a very interesting thing what the internet has done because you just kind of have to attend something to like get your content and you can leave where before it was like a party and maybe the next day you would be on like cover snake or the probability or last night's party or you know epically later you know whatever like your genre of blog was but you would maybe end up on the blog the next day now it's so it's just a completely different thing it's not I'm not saying it's a bad thing it's just completely shifted it's how we function now as a society so whatever that's the stuff that I think would be considered like traditionally cool before but like now when I go on TikTok like I really find comfort and find things that are cool to be like a normal girl in her living room talking about like telling a joke or like people who are doing recipes or like you know I but like in the in the most chill way like popping your phone up like no art direction or anything I think there's something so effortlessly cool about that and then I think you just ultimately there's always going to be like you know like there's a couple like French girls are like that there's that Danish girl per Neil that I follow on Instagram that just gave her like fourth child and her like her I'm like you're cool like that's cool like your house is cool that like a baggy leather jacket you are wearing like three days after every brother just fucking cool you know there's like a couple people like the girls who do out of how jilda and Georgia I'm like you guys are fucking cool I mean in wadi to me it's like obviously like so cool I'm trying to think like like like like I think you know we're talking like European girls but that's like a whole different that's like a world that's so far away from like my reality so what I just I find cool on like a day-to-day basis is very different than that and thank fucking God for that like they go to the internet is really brought us all kind of like at this level playing field vitamins can be confusing and we have many hormonal phases of our life right and that's why I just die for parallel because they make the vitamin routines that you need for all of those unique stages of your hormonal life from pre kids to trying through pregnancy into postpartum it's really unbelievable and it's put together by the best team I mean it's world class and the chronologists and maternal fetal medicine doctors with want to start trying Davide takes the men's multi because fertility is truly 50 50 and I don't go day without the PCOS support and what I especially love about parallel is they put together everything deficient in it and this is how we're going to get it fatty 15 is a miracle it was a miracle that it was like accidentally discovered it's going to be something that your doctor tells you to take at some point it's we will be hearing about it and seeing it everywhere soon but the people who own fatty 15 have the patent to it they have the that is there they discovered it through the navy so this is going to be always like the purest best version of C-15 is what you're getting from fatty 15 and really everyone should be on it I give it to my animals and I will give it to Carmella as soon as they come out with the kid version are you still doing weight watchers I think about weight watchers all day yes yes I implement weight watchers sorry WW all day long and it's a really in a great way like it's actually it's I don't know how to like say things about people be like that's eating disorderly but it's not because the same way I can't spend tons of money or drink excessively I'm sure to some of you I do you know I can't like eat what I want all day long and still feel good and so I think about it in these types of terms like I know off the top of my head all day long what is a zero point food so I made ground turkey last night for dinner that I know I'll eat with eggs this week and I'll put in like tacos later this week that is a zero point food chicken zero point food I think salmon is a zero point food too like a lot of fish is zero points like all vegetable you know most vegetables zero point certain things like chickpeas or zero points which is fucking awesome because that's such a great source of like a good yummy car with lots of fiber so I'll eat those in a different capacity like sometimes I'll bake them or blend them into like a dressing or just obviously put them in my Carmelo loves them too she just eats them like out of the can fruit zero points and like there were you know before people would be like oh my god a banana like that's our sweet potato it's like I don't know I just feel like the way that I do that I way watchers is maybe fully free I know the snacks that I can eat at great lengths like simple milk like there's just I have it all kind of like memories to my head and so you know like tonight after dinner I had I have been like my hyper fixation snack right now is yogurt with frozen raspberries and then I melt sugar free dark chocolate with a little bit of coconut oil and I put the chocolate on top and I put it in the refrigerator for like five minutes max and the chocolate gets like a hard top on it but I do you know it's like you got to think about like where you are like the whole fat Greek yogurt is like you know great because it is all the fat in it but like that makes it much higher points like you know non fat is like very low points low fat is in the middle so I do low fat it's just it's just like things like that like I think about like oh if I really want to have dessert tonight like maybe I'll make sure that my dinner is like a giant you know bunch of vegetables with chicken I just like I just can like do a tally and then there's times or if like you know I'm like oh there's like a protein bar I want to buy or like a snack I want to buy like I can just scan the label and it'll tell me how many points it is and it's really good for keeping track of things that you think you're eating that are you know there are certain like bars that I'll think like oh I'm sure this is like a low thing and it'll be like all you know half my points for the day it's just a nice way to manage things and having the app when keeping track of things on app is just like so easy how are you rang your body for baby number two I think you should listen to the podcast that I did with um Amy Raup I'm kind of just all I'm doing right now besides taking the parallel conception pack is really focusing on my hormones I'm feeling very weird lately like the last week I've been so bloated I look like I'm pregnant I gained weight which I don't mind at all because I had you know I like got to my goal weight this is very typical me I get to my goal weight and then I'm like I'm like I'm in my goal weight and then I eat whatever I want gain gain like 10-15 pounds which is what I did through summer but something is majorly going out with my hormones because my face is breaking out my stomach is so bloated I'm really tired so I don't know if I have like a candida feels very candida E like my gut is a disaster right now which is so funny because I'm like I do I'm doing all the things so I'm going to do a cleanse I'm trying to decide which one because I feel like I need to start over do a reset especially for a couple months or now when I start trying to get pregnant the better baby book is a good book that has a good guide on like what to eat and stuff when you're pregnant in terms of like biohacking and even when I asked my functional medicine doctor like the first time I was like what's the best thing to do to prepare my body and he was like make sure that your microbiome is in a good place that your guts in a good place you know that just sets up you and your baby for success and that you know is something that I think all of us I'm like on that side of TikTok where it's like managing cortisol and helping your microbiome like that that's like literally my entire for you page so I need to just get myself back on track and like whenever I should do medical medium but then my doctor also has another one and then my friend Lizo who I always talked about how stuff like she is somebody who just like always has like oh she do this and this makes me feel really good so I know I'm gonna see it's so hard to do a cleanse when there's so many like my social life is going out to dinner which I'm sure it's the same for you everybody so it's just one of those things where it's like okay I have to pick a week or two and know that I'm gonna be like very isolated how is it fostering it's so nice here are my tips for fostering I think I should do like a TikTok video on this if you have other animals around you need to find a place where and this is just particular for puppies you need to find a place where they can be like locked often so maybe it's like a bathroom we have them in our kitchen and they have a cage cute little crate and so we let them out they pee on the pee pads haven't let them outside into our yard yet I mean I have a little bit in the back yard they don't have any shots they're five weeks old so I bring them to outside in places with dogs that are awfully vaccinated like our dogs then I brought them to our friend's house the other day they're like a big gated yard to run around to them they can kind of sneak out where we are not that they would run away like they're very attached and they don't go super far they're kind of scared they live basically right now in our kitchen and then I just get a little routine with them the person it got them they woke up twice in the night like screaming the second night they woke up only once in the night and then since then they've slept through the night so I just make sure you know I feed them kind of like every three or four hours because they're so little and skinny and so I just make sure like they hour after they've eaten before they go to bed that they have gone to the bathroom multiple times that they've been like free range in the kitchen like then they'll cuddle and sleep with us for a little bit on the couch but then they go back like it's just like okay the body is empty so they sleep through the night in that little crate and then in the morning when we let them out they're like so when they run to the pee pads and pee poop so I mean it's definitely like a lot there's a lot of pee and poop everywhere but you have to know that that's going to happen and that's why I'm keeping them in the kitchen usually I will bring them into the bedroom with me but our dogs have been very upset this time so I want to make sure that our dogs feel like they have our bedroom to feel safe and yummy in and then like because our dogs won't even go in the kitchen right now and then I also am saving myself because we have carpet up here so the first like two nights especially because since Davide was out of town I had them in the crate next to my bed and would cuddle with them a little bit before bed but like Nutella was like gonna murder them or kill herself and then one of them peed on the carpet and like I have to get this fucking carpet replaced we've had so many foster dogs and puppies on this carpet there's carpet smells it's a smelly carpet from all the dogs there's no fosters are allowed up here and once they have their little caged off area and you have like a little routine it's great and it's different obviously if I had an adult dog I'd probably have that dog you know in my bedroom with me it would go on walks like that would be a completely different thing but with puppies they just have to have a schedule like a baby and it's really good to get two instead of one because they play with each other and then they cuddle together like at five weeks I don't it would be very savage just split up puppies in a way where they were like alone I think in less you were keeping that dog I don't know I mean they just are little they're pack animals and when they're this little they're used to cuddling so we have them in this little nice little cadence they get tomorrow I'm giving them their little dewormer if medicine for them if they get diarrhea so they had diarrhea for like a couple days and I gave them some medicine they're fine gave them a bath it's just you know every three days I clean out there or every every third day I clean out their cage I wash their towels or they're they have a little blanket and a dog bed in the crate and I wash that even though they don't go to the bathroom in there puppies have like a little you know musty puppy smell it's just a lot of poop management like I was like giving her my little dinner and I fed the puppies dinner and then I fed the other three dogs dinner and then like it was like Carmella pooped and then both the puppies pooped and then like I cleaned out it's like I cleaned it up and then they were and then it was like thank Carmella pooped again and then like I found like another little pile of poop from one of the puppies in the corner you just have to have like it's that just becomes part of it and you can't be mad about that it's just part of being a puppy foster mom and it's cute and it's fun and they're so sweet and I'm getting very attached to them and I hope that they get get homes but you know you have to just be willing to be very uncomfortable but it's not that uncomfortable and I'm telling you this this is so many who's gonna criticize me for saying this but all my friends when I had Carmella it was kind of like popping around with her after you know the couple weeks after we would go to dinner bring her whatever when do my girlfriends what do my girlfriend said to me she was like I swear to God that your lack of sleep is not that big of a deal to you because you fostered so many puppies still like moments periods of time where you're up in the night and they definitely think that's true because if you go from somebody who's like I need my 12 hours of sleep or I need my 10 hours of sleep to like newborn it's definitely a big transition but for us it was it lifted it's uncomfortable for sure but it wasn't like that it was something that I had kind of experienced before I'm gonna leave on that now if you if anybody ever wants to foster a puppy please let me know and I will guide you through it it's just about love and patience and peepads and having a trash bag right outside your door that is just for poop so you don't have to keep putting it in the trash can inside your house and your smells like shit okay love you guys and that ladies and gentlemen
