Introducing "The Accounting Podcast" (why we changed our name)

Hey, everyone, and welcome back to the Accounting Podcast. I'm Blake Oliver, the Accounting Podcast. That's going to take some time to get used to. You may have noticed that our name has changed. We dropped the cloud from the Cloud Accounting Podcast, and now we're just the Accounting Podcast. So why do we make this change? This summer, we hit 1 million downloads. Yes, you heard that right. 1 million downloads for the Cloud Accounting Podcast. And I just want to pause and take a moment and say, thank you so much to all of our listeners, all of our guests over the years, who have supported us and hit that subscribe button and download button and made that happen. Thank you. Hitting the smile stone has caused me and David Leary to think back on the last five years and think about where we started and where we are now. And at the start, this show was all about technology. It was about QuickBooks Online. It was about zero. It was about intact and Oracle Net Suite and all of the apps that we're plugging into these general ledger systems in the Cloud and making businesses possible, accounting firms possible that weren't possible before. Fast forward five years, and that's the norm. When we talk about tech, by default, we talk about Cloud. We don't even think about it. As the accounting profession evolves, so has this show. We are talking about everything. We're not just talking about Cloud Tech. We're talking about PPP and the talent crisis and fraud and artificial intelligence and business models of accounting firms, the IRS, politics, everything's on the table. And so that's why we're changing the name. It describes this better. And it commits us to providing you with the best audio-based news and analysis in the accounting profession.
