How Your Physical Health Will Skyrocket Your Business This Year
Hello CEO teachers. Welcome back to the show.
Today's topic is when I am really,
really excited about sharing with you. Plus,
I feel like I have what I need to be able to do this effectively,
to be able to say, you know what? I've walked the walk.
I'm preaching to you, but I'm also doing what I am preaching.
So today we're going to talk about how your physical health will skyrocket
your business this year. But before we get started,
I wanted to share a little bit about a podcast I recently listened to by Ed Mylet.
If you're not already listening to his show, he's amazing.
And he was telling a story about success. And I'll be honest.
I don't, I don't listen to a lot of podcasts anymore on how to be successful
or how to find your habits because I feel like they're overdone.
And I also feel like I don't get a lot out of them anymore.
It's the same conversation, just a different person.
But this was a really unique take on it.
And that's what I love about Ed and his show is that he really
challenges me on topics that I think I already know a lot about.
So if you're listening and you're thinking,
Casey, I already know about what you're going to say.
You're going to tell me I need to work out and how that's going to make my business
sore because you just said that in the title.
But I want to give you a lot more than that today.
Just as Ed gave me this weekend while I was on a walk and I was listening.
And so I also wanted to share what he said.
He talks about as you begin to learn success,
there are many different components to starting something new or finding a new
routine in these new habits.
And he said, first, you've got to get comfortable being uncomfortable,
which we we already know though, right?
It's hard to be a beginner.
Just getting started.
It's really ugly.
You probably don't know anything about golf when you get started.
I have a son that wants to play tennis.
All he knows is that the tennis racket hits the ball and I don't know that's all
you need to know because you'll figure it all out.
Maybe you want to start riding a horse.
I want to start playing the guitar.
What are some hobbies that you want to start taking up?
Maybe it's making money online as a teacher.
But at the beginning stages, you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
And that's what was so hard for me getting back into that health journey after
having our fourth kid is I knew my potential and I thought I should just be
there overnight.
And so I had to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
But the next thing he said was that after you get past that beginner stage,
things start to become mechanical.
So you learn all the things that you didn't know before.
So if you're riding a horse or learning how to play golf,
you're learning all the step by steps.
You can talk the talk.
You're beginning to walk the walk.
And here is where people believe they have found success, but that's not it.
So being a beginner is first, then learning the mechanics.
So learning how to start selling your teaching resources online.
People start making money and feel like they've got it all figured out.
But here is where the magic happens.
You don't become a master at success until you start putting in the reps.
And it was like this light bulb went off from me.
And I thought he's so right.
It's the name of the game, consistency, all of that.
But are you putting in the reps for your teacher business?
Are you hitting the goals you want to hit?
And the only way that that works is with a plan and a whole lot of practice.
So once you do that, you begin to become natural.
And people say, she was just born with it.
So in today's show, I want to really focus in on getting comfortable, being
uncomfortable, putting in the mechanical work and then showing the world how you
will be consistent through repetition so that you can become the next master of
your health journey and also your teacher business.

no idea if that is accurate, but I think it is.
Success isn't always about greatness.
It's about consistency, consistent hard work gains success and greatness will come.
And that was by Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
So I won't go into all the details of my journey on 75 hard, but if I've learned
anything over the last 50 something days, it's that you must stay disciplined in
your approach to living a better life.
And choosing your heart is something that stays in my mind every single day when
I don't want to get up at 4 40 a.m.
When I don't feel like putting in the work because the life I was living before
was very hard.
And now that I feel the best I've ever felt, it's becoming a lot easier.
My dreams in my business and company are becoming more doable.
I'm able to see things more clearly than I've ever seen before.
And what I love the most is that I know exactly what I want in life.
And we've talked about this on the show before is that you have to know where
you're going in order to get there.
And I encourage our students inside of the CEO, teacher membership every single day
to be able to tell me and answer that question in a few sentences when I say,
what do you want from your teacher business?
I want them to look at me and be able to tell me in two to three sentences.
And so being physically active, though, doesn't mean that you're going to know
all these things right away.
It's a process and no, you don't have to go into debt to join a gym membership
or get all the barbells delivered to your house, but you just have to keep moving.
You don't have to have big goals of half marathons and marathons.
All I need from you is a commitment to say, I'm going to walk for 30 minutes a day.
That's the key here is that once you get
the ball rolling, it's like this beautiful snowball that takes over and it really
goes into every single avenue of your life.
I knew for me that my 5 30 AM workout would continue when my kids said, when I
got home, mama, please keep going to the gym in the mornings.
You're in such a good mood when you get home.
That was it for me.
Done.
I will always do that.
And so I needed them to say that to me, though, so that I would keep going.
But I didn't get that answer right away.
It took a couple of weeks.
And now I'm just, it's just who I am, my nutrition coach said, Casey, one day, it
won't be a chore.
It'll just be what you do.
And I didn't believe her.
I'm not going to before 40 AM.
That's not what I do.
It is now, but it's taken 55 days of me doing this every day to believe in myself
and say, yes, I can.
I can do this.
And so utilizing your physical health as it begins to infiltrate into every other
aspect of your life, I've started making my bed every day.
These are just some habits that I'm picking up on that I've never done before.
I actually was anti making my bed because I wanted to prove to the world that you
don't have to make your bed to be successful because people have told me that
my whole life.
I'm like, no, no, I felt college algebra.
You don't need math to be successful.
That's what I get in.
I get in my own way about that.
I'm very hard headed.
And so maybe there's something in your life that you don't think you'll ever be
that person.
I'll never be the person that goes to church every Sunday.
I'll never be the person that gets up in.
I'm not a morning person, sister or brother.
Neither was I.
And so your physical health, what happens is as you start committing to 20 minutes
a day, I'm going to walk for 20 minutes a day.
Then it becomes after your legs aren't tired.
My legs were so sore the first couple of weeks.
It's I'm going to walk for 30 minutes a day.
And then wow, I had time.
I found that 30 minutes.
What if I worked on my business for 20 minutes a day?
It is this ripple effect that they call the keystone habits that begin to infiltrate
into every other part of your life.
I think I've said infiltrate into every other part of your life a few times.
So I'm going to not use that anymore.
This show, but all that's recommended for your health is 150 minutes of moderate
intensity physical activity and 75 minutes of muscle strengthening activities each week.
I can't express to you enough how much I believe in strength training and
cardiovascular work now because I've seen the difference that my body is beginning
to produce.
I feel stronger when I was just doing cardio.
I was that girl.
I was that girl that only did cardio.
I didn't feel my best self.
I was very worn down a lot.
I was in good spirits.
I had that runner's high or I had the the walkers high, but then after that it kind of faded.
And so lifting weights has allowed me to sustain that high throughout my day.
And then adding in a little bit of cardio as well has made it even better.
Now you may be thinking to yourself, Casey, but you don't teach full time anymore.
I don't have time to do this.
And I believe you're wrong.
I don't teach full time anymore, but I do have a job and I do have five kids and I do
have a lot going on as well.
Do you wake up at 4 40 AM to work out?
I'm not saying you got to.
Are you going on a walk during your planning period?
Are you going after school today?
We can make all of the excuses that we want.
But remember, you must choose your heart.
The life that you're living is hard.
So this isn't going to be easy, but I promise you it will be worth it.
Only 28% of Americans are actually meeting those physical activity guidelines.
When you go to other countries, you realize how sedentary Americans are.
It's amazing to see.
I haven't been to another country.
Let me just put, just put that out there.
I've only ever been in the United States, but I have a lot of friends that live
all over the world and I try to educate myself about places all over the world as
I begin to think about traveling to other countries.
But it's amazing to see how sedentary Americans are.
Adults who participate in regular exercise may lesson and prevent health issues.
You know all this, like stress and mental fatigue, low energy, muscle aches, lack of focus.
And I want to be honest with you is that I haven't seen a decrease necessarily in
my depression and how often it flares.
Just to be honest, I saw a really popular podcast last week when I was going
through a really hard depression spell that said that diet and exercise will fix
99% of everyone's depression problems.
And I just went off the deep end.
I don't believe that's the case for me.
I believe that what the medication that I take plus health, diet and exercise help
keep me at baseline so that I can stay more consistent.
But what I do know is that this change in my lifestyle has helped me deal with my
depression more.
I have not had suicidal thoughts.
I have not thought about leaving this planet.
I thought I can do this.
I've got a few days.
This is going to be hard, but I need to rest.
I need to relax.
I need to recharge.
I can do this.
I am not getting in my bed.
I am not turning off all the lights.
I am not going to be worthless.
And so if you're feeling that this is going to solve all your problems for some
people, according to a lot of doctors, it will for me.
That's not the case.
And so you're not a failure if eating well and exercise isn't the cure all, but it
will help you skyrocket your business.
And I want to lay out some action tips that are going to show you the
correlation between your physical health and your teacher business.
Did you know that endorphins actually increase blood flow and regular exercise
produces a happiness boost, which helps fuel original and abstract thoughts.
And even though I was really depressed last week, I can honestly say that while
I was working out, I wasn't.
I was happy.
I felt great when I quit exercising, which is why I over exercised last week because
I felt good in those moments.
So how can you use this happiness in these endorphins to help you in your
teacher business?
So first, you'll receive a boost in creativity after a strength training
workout or cardiovascular work.
This doesn't mean you have to live heavy weights or run a marathon, as I said
before, but as a business owner, you'll be able to see a bigger potential out there.
And so what I've noticed in the last 55 days is that my dreams are not limited
to today's work.
They're not limited to what we can accomplish this week or this quarter.
I can see the vision.
And so the clarity that I've received over the last couple of weeks and a couple of
months is that I've always been good at seeing the vision.
I've always been able to see what 10 years from now looks like, but I've been
able to make the action plan to get there without stress, without worry, and just
excitement.
Starting your own business requires memory and cognitive work.
And so if you're able to lift weights and get a boost in those memory skills and
that cognitive dexterity, you'll be able to reach even further when you're
planning out your goals, not just short term goals, but also your long term goals.
Boosting your creative thoughts with an injection of endorphins is for sure a
win-win situation.
Next is that you'll increase productivity after a brisk walk.
We message all the time on Slack.
My team does and I'm like, did you go on a walk today?
Did you get outside today?
Walking for 10 minutes can actually boost your mood.
And when you are in better spirits, you can get more work done.
And it's not going to feel that way in the beginning.
I was walking every day and I in the beginning of this journey and I hated it,
to be honest.
And then I started saying this mantra over and over again in my head.
This is a blessing, not a burden.
I would say that I have the ability to walk.
This is a blessing, not a burden.
And it changed my mindset a little bit, but every time, whether I was the most
tired I had ever been, whether I was in the worst mood, whether I was so stressed,
when I finished my walk, which I was, I've been doing a 45 minute walk or run every
single day, all that was gone.
The things that were a big deal weren't a big deal anymore.
The things I was stressed about, I wasn't stressed out about.
The tiredness completely gone.
I had a whole another level of energy.
So people who sit for the majority of their workday are less productive.
And they are more tired and they are less satisfied with their position.
I had always heard that a body in motion stays in motion and I didn't really believe
it. And now that I see the more I work out, the more I want to work out.
Those who sit for long periods are at a significantly higher risk for back and neck
pain, which can lead to unproductive days as well.
Next on how your physical health will skyrocket your business this year is that
it's going to help you build favorite R word resilience.
Resilience in your business is your ability to quickly respond to changes that
could disrupt your vision, your brand and your influence.
And resilience is really what it gave me last week when I was in a depressed state.
Your physical stamina actually allows you to become more resilient in all aspects
of your life.
So this will help you withstand social pressures and better protect your services,
your time, your offers.
You won't just make quick decisions or do things based on fear.
Increasing your physical activity levels helps you spend 30 to 40% more time
actually working in your business rather than on your business.
I remember when I first really understood that concept.
Working in your business is when you're doing things like checking your email
and playing on social media and you're saying, I'm working on my business.
No, you're working in your business.
Working on your business is when you're focusing in on your vision, what the overall
brand looks like and how you can influence your students and your members for years
and years to come.
That's what we call real work.
Playing on TikTok to figure out what the next social trends are.
That's what I like to call fake work.
Do I do it?
For sure.
Do I know that that's what's helped my business grow?
Absolutely not.
When your heart and your lung health improve, you're going to have more energy
to tackle those daily tasks.
So knowing what we know, I want to leave you with a few more strategies
to improve your physical health without having to make huge changes and sacrifice
everything at once.
Seventy five hard has been the hardest thing that I have done physically and mentally
in my life.
So I don't want you to think you have to go do this challenge in order to win at life.
Instead, here are just some really quick wins that'll help you build those
Keystone habits we talked about at the beginning of the show.
First, meal prep for healthy options.
So limit your takeout, packaged and junk snack options.
I am personally buying meals from someone at my gym now.
They're $7 a plate, which is cheaper than if I were to go out to eat and it requires
no effort from me and I don't even clean up.
I throw all the containers away.
And so that for me is a huge win and a no brainer because it helps me every single
week and it takes stress out of the whole process.
Next is make sure you're drinking plenty of water.
Yeah, the water struggle is real.
I'm drinking a gallon a day, but mild dehydration, like 2% fluid loss can affect
your memory, your concentration and your reaction time.
Get outside. Yes, get the sun on your face.
If you're in a cool climate or in a warm climate, bundle up if you're cold,
take something off of your heart because moving your body for just three minutes
every hour will help you with fatigue will help you feel better with the sun on your
face and it'll help you by making you overall more productive.
So schedule stretching in your day outside if you can and get those movement breaks
every single hour.
And then finally, I'm going to you got to get a lot of sleep.
So to think more clearly and to better understand your offers, your ideas, your
business, you have to find that clarity and clarity comes from sleep the night before.
