Hello, hello, happy Wednesday, and welcome back to the Wellness Cafe Podcast, your
go-to, Hawker Walk Podcast.
I'm your host, Trin Tondelier, wherever you are, whatever time it is when you are listening
to this episode.
I hope you're having an amazing day.
This episode is titled Listen to This on Your Next Hawker Walk, because you know, when
you were younger and all over Pinterest, it was this thing that couples did, and it was
the envelopes that's like, open this when you're tired, open this when you need a hug,
open this when you need some encouragement.
And I was doing some organization for the fall, new season, you know, just making sure
I have no clutter in the area.
And I came across the old ones that Brody made me, literally, I think I was in grade 11.
And it inspired this episode.
So this is just a listen to this on your next Hawker Walk episode, because I don't have
anything necessarily that I want to teach you today.
Today I really just want you and I to hang out, and I just have really important things
to say of words of encouragement, because I see you.
I see you taking me on your Hawker Walks, listening to the Wellness Cafe.
I see you working on yourself.
I see you working on your mental health, chasing your dreams, chasing your goals,
T-W-C, one thing about us, we are determined, we are inspired, we are working hard.
I see you.
So today I just want to talk about that.
I have some really important words I want to say to you, tell you how proud I am of you
of us of this community.
I see it all.
I see how hard you are working.
And we're going to talk about it today.
And I'm going to tell you some things that you may need to hear.
And just a very quick what I'm having this week, I made for breakfast meal prep this
week.
I made pumpkin pie overnight oats.
I am obsessed.
Number one, it is fall in a cup.
Okay.
It was my morning moment.
Actually just this morning I pulled it out of the fridge very early and Brody was still
in bed.
And I was literally, we had a block of dark chocolate and I took a cheese grater and
I was like shaving the dark chocolate.
So I had little shavings of dark chocolate on the oats.
And it was making a lot of noise.
And Brody said from the bedroom, he was like, what is going on out there?
And I was like, oh, funny, you ask, I'm actually shaving my dark chocolate into my pumpkin
pie oats at seven o'clock in the morning.
And I was laughing and he was like, how do you have energy for that in the morning?
That is so much effort.
And I replied, Brody, it's called a morning moment.
You think he would be with it by now, okay?
So needless to say, the pumpkin pie oats have been putting me in the fall mood.
They're healthy.
They're easy.
They're affordable.
And it's the perfect thing to meal prep for on the go for worker school.
I did post a reel of the recipe on my Instagram off the top of my head.
Obviously it's just oats, whatever milk you want, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice,
cinnamon.
And then I topped it with an added in Greek yogurt, chia seeds, black seeds, walnuts,
no, not walnuts, pecans, pumpkin seeds, banana.
I just did a whole ton of healthy fats, extra ingredients topped with fiber omega threes.
This pumpkin pie oats is everything and anything you need for your breakfast to fuel you
for a good day.
All jam packed into a little tiny, cute jar of oats.
Let me go check it out.
I will get around to posting the recipe on the walnuts cafe Instagram as well.
And just a couple more things before we get into the episode because I haven't mentioned
it in a while.
If you're new here, welcome to TWC, we're so glad you're here.
If you want to connect with other members of TWC and talk about your morning moments,
get more recipe, inspo, get inspired, ask for advice, there is a walnuts cafe group chat.
I haven't mentioned it in a while and I don't know why because so many of you meet friends
on it, some even meet friends in your own area on it or just online friends.
We're all there for one another.
So if you're not joined, you have to check it out.
It will be linked in the show notes.
It's actually always linked in the show notes.
It just says click here to join our group chat.
I just haven't mentioned it in a while and I don't know why.
Secondly, I've really enjoyed going live on the walnuts cafe Instagram lately.
So make sure that you're following the walnuts cafe Instagram so you don't miss those
lives.
But on the live, I got a lot of requests for more community episodes and I don't actually
know why I haven't done one in a very long time.
I would love to do another TWC episode soon, a Hawker Walk Hangout episode.
So there is a Google form always linked in the show notes where you can go submit anything
to write in for the episodes.
Any words of encouragement you want to tell TWC anything you're currently having that
you need to put TWC onto, trust me, your words will resonate with someone.
And there's also a Google form for an Ask Trin episode.
I'll be doing another advice episode soon.
So if you need some advice, I would love to answer it to help you out as best as I can.
And the very last thing, as you know, I have been working on getting us merch for TWC,
except I really want our merch to be perfect for us and just special.
The design process is taking forever because I want it to really represent everything
that we stand for and I want it to be like almost like our team hoodie.
You know what I mean when we're wearing it?
You know what's up.
So with that being said, it is in the works as you know, but I'm going to be making a
Google form that is also in the show notes, so many Google forms, but if you're interested
in the wellness cafe hoodies, there will be a Google form in the show notes that you
can go fill out and tell me what size you think you would purchase, what colors of everything
that you want to see, what items you really want, just so I know where your head's at and
know what direction to go in and get a better and get a better idea of what you want so
I can give you exactly what you want because I've never done anything like this before
and it's very new to me.
So if you're interested, that would truly help me out so much.
This is going to be so iconic for us, I can't wait.
Okay, that is all for updates and such and now let's get into the episode.
I titled this, listen to this on your next talk or walk, but obviously if you're cooking,
driving, cleaning on your talk or walk at the gym, whatever it is that you're doing
while listening to this today, I just wanted to sit down and tell you that I'm proud of
you as someone who has a lot of ups and downs during my wellness journey as you've heard
as I've been sharing with you for the past two years, I know how easy it is to be hard
on yourself and really all I wanted to share with you today is that I'm proud of you.
If you're here and you listen to TWC every Wednesday, if you're a loyal TWC member,
that means you're trying, okay, so don't be too hard on yourself.
If you're doing the things, if you found yourself here, if you're on a walk right now, whatever
it is you're doing right now while listening to this, I know that you're trying your best
and that is enough, not everything is always going to be perfect, but I wanted to remind
you that you are doing really good and I know you're trying and you're going to get there.
When you're in the process of designing a new happier healthier life for yourself and
as I always say, I'm always trying to find new ways to just keep improving, keep leveling
up and I share them with you so we can all just be this amazing version of ourselves
that sometimes you go so far and you create all these new habits for yourself and then
if one day you make a mistake in your eyes, you can be so hard on yourself, but I want
you to look back and see how far you've come.
Take a second right now to think of yourself a year ago or two years ago before you started
trying to implement a wellness lifestyle and then look at yourself now and see how far
you've come.
So give yourself credit where credit is due because you are trying and you should be proud
of that because taking care of yourself and implementing these habits and going to
the gym and doing all these things that are going to make you feel amazing and be happy
and healthy and take care of your mental health, it's hard.
And yes, your morning moment makes you feel good and your morning routine makes you
happy and healthy and going to the gym feels amazing after, but if you're trying and you're
getting one percent of those done.
If you do one thing every day that your past self didn't do, you're one percent better
and that is worth something.
And I mean, if you look back at your life before you started going on a wellness journey
to where it is now, look at how many things you're doing differently.
You've probably leveled up a hundred percent.
You know what I mean?
If I look back to myself when I was really struggling with my mental health and I wasn't
taking care of myself, I wasn't eating well.
I sure as shit wasn't doing any of these things that we all do now.
And you know what I sure as shit wasn't doing when I was really struggling?
I was not even concerned about my wellness.
I wasn't listening to self-help.
I wasn't trying.
So the fact that you're here and you're going on your hawker walk and you're posting,
working on yourself, getting out there, that is so worth something.
So don't be too hard on yourself.
And really this episode, I just, this episode is to show you some appreciation in case no
one has told you lately or in case you have a habit of being too hard on yourself.
Because let's be honest, everyone is too hard on themselves.
And I need to take an extra second for all my moms because I have got so many messages
from the moms of TWC lately and like what?
The fact that you even have time to take care of yourself and you still are making time
to do these habits while raising other human beings.
That's incredible and you should be so proud of yourself.
The day's not any time soon but I surely, I can't even imagine how hard it's going
to be to do that while also raising a child.
So show yourself some appreciation, okay, I know you're trying your hardest.
And your best is always enough.
And if you've been really hard on yourself lately and in your eyes you keep failing or
missing habits that you're trying to do or missing your workouts, firstly, I want you
to not be so hard on yourself.
Your best is always enough.
But then I want you to take a second and think to yourself, are you not succeeding in
your goals and your habits because you did something wrong?
Or is it because you set unrealistic expectations for yourself?
You know what I mean?
That is why when we're setting goals and creating new habits for ourselves, we do it one step
at a time and very slowly.
Because then it can be so easy to just be so hard on yourself and expect more out of yourself.
When really that's just setting you up for failure, not in my eyes, obviously I never
think you're a failure but in your eyes, if you don't do these crazy expectations you
had for yourself, you'll think you failed.
When in reality, you got a lot done.
But maybe your goals were just too big.
If you do one thing every day, that is the tiniest little thing that makes you one percent
better, that is the way to creating your healthiest happy as self.
You can never go from zero to a hundred.
It's taken me years and years and years to get to where I am because there's always
ups and downs.
Always.
If you're in a down or if you've had a couple downs, shake it off and just get back up
because I know you can.
There's no point in being hard on yourself because it happens to me, it happens to you,
it happens to everyone in the world, honestly.
And along with that, the second little topic I wanted to remind you of today is that you
don't have to have everything figured out and frankly, no one has everything figured
out.
No one knows what they're doing, everyone is just figuring it out as they go.
I know it's really easy to look around and feel like everyone knows what they're doing
except for you.
But I promise you, like pinky promise, lock it, no one knows what they're doing.
So don't be too hard on yourself.
Life is really precious and we are all so lucky to be living and to be loved and to have
the opportunity to work out and work on ourselves.
But one thing that I always like to remember and one thing that has been proving itself time
after time again to me lately that I think is so important to understand is that happiness
isn't the destination, it's the journey.
And that is why you need to design healthy habits and find a morning moment for yourself
to find joy in every day because the grass is always greener on the other side until
you start to water your own.
If you're in a position right now where you're stressed, you don't have everything figured
out, you're being hard on yourself and you have this ideal picture in your mind where
you think everything will be better.
Sure, a couple things are going to be better.
That is no doubt when you're working on your goals and yourself.
But in the overall scheme of things, you really just need to slow down and look for joy
in every single day and not be hard on yourself and just enjoy the process.
It's fun to mess up and learn from things.
It's fun to try new things and fail or succeed or work your way around problems.
It's all just a part of the process so enjoy it and don't be too hard on yourself.
I didn't set the vibes for today's episode as usual and the vibes for today's episode
are so surreal to me.
It is insane and I feel like obviously if you've been here since open for business, you've
seen me every step of the way and today I am recording in my chair.
After recording, I'm about to head to the airport to go to Paris Fashion Week with Fernanda.
Why did I just say two years ago you were listening to me just starting to tap into this
job and I had no idea what I was doing but every day I just tried to figure it out and
get one step closer.
If you're putting in the hard work and figuring out your dreams at one step at a time, you
will get there.
I know you're capable of it but it's really more about the process than the destination.
It's so exciting to wake up every day and work on your goals and something that you're
passionate about.
Whatever it is in your mind right now that you're thinking about, start working towards
it because you're capable of it, you're wildest dreams.
Before recording this episode today, I can't even believe it.
The words that are coming out of my mouth right now, I woke up.
I recorded a commercial for a way product that's going to be on the Sephora page indefinitely
and Ulta and I got paid for it and I'm not saying that in a breaking way.
I'm saying that as if you've been here for the past two years, you heard what episode
was it.
I had an influence or files where I said I love way products and I really wanted to work
with them and create content for their brand and let my creativity out.
So I spent hours researching what to say to a brand if you want to work with them.
I spent hours researching and finding their email.
I had no idea what I was doing and if you could go back even two years ago and tell
Trin that in a couple of years, she'll be getting paid to film a video for way on the
Sephora website.
That is insane and I am so, so grateful.
I don't even know how along the way I somehow have a job where on one hand, I get to express
my creativity and I've always wanted a creative job and then on the other hand, on the podcast,
I get to hang out with you once a week.
I get to have this amazing community of girls and empower you to create your dream life.
Number one, I share my dreams with you and my goals and everything I'm achieving because
we're friends.
But number two, to show you that you can do it too because if you've been here forever
since the show started, you've heard me build this to where I am now from the ground
up just from figuring it out one step at a time.
So the goal in your mind right now, if you feel like it is so unachievable and so far
away, take it one day at a time and start slow.
Because in some people's eyes, sure, if I told you two years ago, I sent my first email
to Way and it took two years to be recording a huge campaign with them.
Some people will see the two years and you know, just think that that takes a really
long time.
But last week, I was having a conversation with my mom and Jess about school because Jess
is figuring out what she wants to do with school and lately, I have been having thoughts
about wanting to go back to school because I miss learning about psychology and I miss
being in school and expanding my brain and anyway, whatever.
We were talking about the ages that we would be when we finished school.
And my mom just looked at us and said, the time is going to pass anyway.
So you can either let the time pass and come out on the end with all these degrees that
you girls are talking about or not, you know, the time is going to pass anyway.
Your goal may seem so far away right now, but I know for a fact, I know for certain,
you are capable of it if you don't give up and you work there one day at a time.
It's an episode kind of went all over the place, but I don't know.
I didn't have anything I wanted to teach you today.
I just wanted to remind you to be relentless with your goals and to remind you that no
dream is too big.
You can figure it out.
It may take a while.
I was 18 when I got my first real camera for YouTube and started filming because I just
loved photography and videography.
Back then, my big thing was I loved and I wanted to do something in regards to travel, cinematography
or wedding photography.
I just loved creativity, yet I thought it was so out of reach and unrealistic to actually
have a creative job and sure it is how many years, almost six years later now.
And I am so freaking grateful every single day I wake up to be doing work that I love.
And I am so happy and so grateful and I get to tap into my creativity and I get to also
explore my passion with psychology and share how I was able to fix my mental health and
help you with that because that also really, really fulfills me so much.
But at the end of the day, also for the past two years since this pod has been going on,
you've heard me go through so many ups and downs, which you know when I was 18 and if
I thought to myself, hey, in all these years, you're going to be living in Vancouver and
have your dream job.
It's easy to think that that's the destination of happiness, yet you hear me all the time,
still go through ups and downs, which is why I want to emphasize that you need to find
happiness in every day and it's not a destination because yes, obviously I'm so happy and there's
things that I have accomplished that I'm very proud of and I'm so grateful, but at the end
of the day, everyone is still just human.
There's ups and downs for everyone.
I think I'm rambling too much now.
I could honestly just talk to you for hours, but I think maybe I'll cut it off here because
I could probably go off on tangents for so long, but let's just recap what I have said today.
I'm proud of you.
You are doing amazing.
You're trying your best and your best is always enough.
You don't have to have everything figured out.
You will figure it out along the way.
You are capable of figuring it out and accomplishing your dreams.
I promise you you're capable of that, but also don't forget to slow down and appreciate
the process and find happiness in every single day because if you have the mindset that happiness
is a destination, then there's always going to be a higher destination, a higher point
that you want to get to.
If that's how you look at life, the grass will always be greener until you just slow down,
be grateful to enjoy the process, be grateful to be on this journey, figuring it out one
day at a time.
I love you.
You are amazing and you are doing so good.
Don't be too hard on yourself.
Okay?
Promise me that.
And to end it off for today, I hope you had an amazing walk, whatever it is that you
were doing while listening to this and wish me luck in Paris.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing at Paris Fashion Week or how I got invited.
My imposter syndrome is going to be through the freaking roof.
I don't even know what's going on and I'm so scared but also so excited and just I'm
just going to try and relax and not let the imposter syndrome get to me.
But anyway, I'm so grateful for you.
Thank you for listening to this week's episode.
I hope you have an amazing week and slow down to appreciate how far you've come.
Okay?
I love you.
I will see you next week.
Muah!
